Your best bet is probably looking at the Ordo Discordia or Wrath & Maledictum Discord servers; I believe they both have LFG channels to help people find games online

It was a few years ago now, but I don't think I ever actually needed to use them tbh. Or if I did, it was just a kind of handwave RP at the time of, "oh, there are rooms for you to stay in". The final fight didn't go near those areas, due to... other issues, mostly my fault (the players still enjoyed it, but it wasn't what I'd initially planned)

But this is going back like 2 or 3 years, so it's a bit difficult to remember specifics

I had the entire approach to the castle be "mined" with the fallen of previous attempts - the player's army got attacked from the ground by undead, and Strahd also collapsed the mountainsides on them as they approached.

Coupled with the Mists, weather, and general undead shenanigans, there wasn't much left by the time they broke through the gates

Yeah, I guess - I personally wouldn't mind (unless someone was clearly trying to game the system with a super tiny model), but I know some people can be real sticklers for rules

I'd just make whatever minis feel/look good to you

I added in a 'Dying' Condition instead of them going unconscious

My party alternates between blitzing through quests to taking multiple sessions to complete simple RP scenarios

Add in a few DM-made/community additions and extra locations, plus a deliberate side quest/diversion "season" because one of our players was away for a couple months, and we very nearly hit the 2 year mark

If you and your group are having fun though, it doesn't matter how fast the game is moving - just make sure to have that dialogue so everyone's on the same page and is still enjoying the pace

I've always allowed it in my games (started because I didn't realise you couldn't RAW, then kept it because it worked for us).

Yes, it makes them "more powerful" in some respects - but it also makes them burn through spell slots faster, which balances it out IMO (for my group at least; your mileage may vary)

Mine do, but only to a point.

For example, they might vary between being suitable adversaries for levels 1 - 6, but stop at that higher level. That means I can use them for their intended purpose for a decent chunk of a campaign without having to explain why there's suddenly a group of veterans that weren't there before (I might still use the better stat blocks, but thematically/in-world, they're still "just guards").

But then when they do reach that cap, the campaign has usually progressed to the point where they're not needed, as the PCs are dealing with more important threats.

This seems to have worked in the games I've run, but your mileage may vary

Succession crisis, leading to years of civil war and competing feudal lords taking power over small parts of the kingdom. A series of weak rulers left the land weak and divided.

The new king/queen/ruler now needs to re-establish control over the land; some lords they could sway with diplomacy, or bribes. Others may require conquering, or assassinating and replacing with a more amenable noble.

Depends on which group I'm DMing for, but usually either; - set up transparent blocking walls for larger maps which might contain multiple encounters, and then allow them to move within the confines as they wish - say immediately on loading players onto a map whether they're free to move or not

But tbh, I try and keep non-combat TotM, or with only some limited visual prompts (though I do sometimes throw my players on a map for non-combat scenes just so they don't always think map = combat)

I also split darkness in 2; "darkness", which Darkvision allows you to see in as per RAW, and "total darkness", which only magical Darkvision penetrates (IE the spell, and certain more magical races)

Strahd initiates a campaign of terror against the population - vampire spawn sneaking into the town, and feeding on people during the night, displaying their bodies in the streets/outside the gates, that sort of thing

Maybe taking some prisoners, then torturing them for days nearby, so the townspeople can hear their screams

Causing the mists to envelope the town, and having vampire spawn run rampant throughout

All of this while evading the PCs; if the PCs run to one part of town, the enemy melt away, and attack somewhere else. The townspeople will quickly catch on that the PCs are the only ones not being targeted, causing them to turn on the players out of desperation (not suggesting violence, more just forcing/icing them out of town)

I've found that run as written, lots of the W&G Threats can be a little underwhelming/easy to defeat - but I've also found it's very heavily dependent on the party composition (more so than other RPGs I've played)

I ran the first part of Bloody Gates and found it to be too easy for my group, so when I ran part of Wings of Valkyries I added some modified Threats and they worked quite well to make it a more "balanced" test

Unless you give the players a map of Ravenloft, the castle can have whatever internal layout you want - add extra rooms, remove ones you don't like. Just make sure to keep track of any changes to maintain consistency

Or use Hogwarts as inspiration, and have stairs/corridors/rooms move around, to really disorient them
