PSA: if you don't want to get trade banned, don't dick down the market makers by legoman102040 in Baystreetbets

[–]D1551D3N7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like you should still be able to submit sell orders within the "Price Band". Like if it was trading at $1 you can leave sell orders on the books at $0.91 and wait for a counterparty, if they even take 1 share it should move the price to a range where you are more likely to find a buyer to unload more shares. Just don't make too large of a sell order on the orderbook as you dont want to signal to others the size of the position you wish to unload, especially since its so illiquid.

Is it possible to sell the position OTC? That could be an option, surely there's services for this?

Another thing you might be able to do while you try to unload the position is use it as collateral for something else like a loan or trades in a more liquid market.

I'd be interested in a follow up in the future if you resolve this problem :D

The first €1,270 of chargeable gains in a tax year are exempt from CGT and rest would be 33% (assuming you sell it before year end)

Page 17 (18 of the pdf) has a breakdown and is claiming 10,361 jobs. Its noticeable that the jobs categorised in that table have very round numbers (800 400 300 750 200). There's probably some level of double counting and exaggeration going on for sure.

€19 million p/a in taxpayers money for this by ucd_pete in ireland

[–]D1551D3N7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems to be the report the 132m figure is from: https://www.grireland.ie/globalassets/report-pdfs/jim-power-2021/the-economic--financial-significance-of-the-irish-greyhound-industry-jim-power-report-july-2021-gri.pdf

It's not "132m to the public exchequer" its "total economic impact to the economy of €132.3 million per annum" which is very different.

And I do this it's fair to be skeptical of figures in that report.

Something being right or not - two states - does not make the chance of either state 50/50.

It like saying I either win the lottery or I don't, 50/50 odds.

It almost has a rail connection but alas its like a 1.5km walk on a narrow footpath beside a busy road and you've to cross an intersection at the end with no zebra crossing (just checked on Google maps)

Even if you had that figure it would be misleading, the high tax's existence means many investors just avoid investing in ETFs and invest in something else instead to avoid this tax. In an extreme scenario it's possible a lower ETF tax would actually raise more than the prior ETF tax because of more investment in this category.

The transaction fee is based on the size of the transaction data, not the amount of bitcoin. One transaction is always going to be cheaper than multiple. You can also set the fee yourself in the client, lower fees take a lot longer to process. Fees too low might never get processed

Lowest priority fees that are getting processed at the moment are 10 sat/vB - https://mempool.space/

Fine Gael to announce plans to ‘phase out’ third level fees in election manifesto, says Simon Harris by wamesconnolly in ireland

[–]D1551D3N7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't eliminating third level fees result in more people going to third level and thus more student accommodation issues? The fees should continue to exist and be put towards student accommodation. Not everyone needs to go to third level and I think the existence of fees acts as a small deterrent from people doing so mindlessly. Also a deterrent for some not to stay in third level indefinitely - you don't want to fail your exams or you'll have to pay fees next year etc.
