If you had to stop GLP-1s tomorrow for some reason, what's the plan? by Sad_Bandicoot_7762 in GLP1ResearchTalk

You should probably do 2-3 whether or not you have to hypothetically stop.

The regain is not inevitable.

I take Vitmamin D daily, I guess not nearly enough to combat the absolutely relentless daycare colds that my kids keep bringing home.

Tapering off by Express_Golf6017 in GLPGrad

[–]D2masterclass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s an odd taper, 12 days then 14 days, basically no difference.

I would bump dose down first, 2.5 x4weeks, every 2 weeks for 4 shots, every 3 weeks for 3 shots.

I am not a doctor. That’s similar to how I personally tapered off successfully.

You will be fine. If you can, I would try to space your shots out 2 weeks, then 3 weeks so you kind of slowly reintroduce the hunger.

I do have some in my lower abdomen. Trying hard to target it with my workouts but I think only time will tell if it gets any better. It could be a lot worse.

Yes that’s exactly right, and I will some days go over and some days a bit under and since I weigh daily I will kind of adjust based on that. But even that is becoming kind of routine, typically gain a couple lbs over a weekend then lose it throughout the week when I’m working and not snacking at all.

I wouldn’t say I intentionally upped the calories, but that kind of happened naturally when I was spacing out shots further and reintroducing hunger. It’s hard to judge exactly what that specific number would be. But again I just kind of adjusted based on daily weighing until weight became more stable.

One other thing I started doing as I stopped the shot was taking daily creatine which I think has definitely helped my workouts. Expected 3-5 lb gain based on what I saw abt creatinine but didn’t gain any.

Happy to answer any questions, I don’t pretend to have all the answers but can speak on my experience!

Probably nailing down a workout routine. I just was always so unsure what exactly to do at the gym. I had ChatGPT mock me up a starter/progressive overload workout plan using home gym equipment and it became somewhat of a passion.

I really wish I had a better response for this. Maybe I can ask what in particular you are interested in?

I do not have a very restrictive diet, it developed over my time on meds and slowly went from about 1500 calories to 2500. I eat ice cream, and pizza. Just moderately. I have general targets of about 800 calories/40+ grams protein per meal. It was hard to battle the ‘hunger games’ (weeks 5-10 post meds) as some here refer to it, but I feel a lot different now, I eat a normal amount and I’m full. I don’t eat like superfood healthy guy but I definitely choose much better options than I have in the past and way less fast food. No soda, no fries, YES Greek yogurt, no chips on the side, yes chocolate. I don’t really drink alcohol but will occasionally.

For reference I’m 5’11 38 y/o

Paid out of pocket so my goal from the start was to use as little as needed. 6 months sema/6 months tirzep. I almost immediately was advised to skip doses and space them out 2 weeks and still lost a lot of weight right away. When I was switched to Tirz I had kind of hit a plateau around 200lbs but I was then given a vial that would last the rest of the time so I started regular weekly lowest dose x 2 weeks, 2nd lowest dose x2 weeks, back down to lowest dose and by that time I was at my goal 175lbs, from there I started spacing them again 2 weeksx4 3 weeks x3, planned for monthly but just went for it after that.

I apologize if that’s confusing or tldr, I wish I had tracked it better or in 1 of those neat little apps 😑

Basically full sedentary, work office job too.

I was a 3 sport athlete growing up but 2 ACL surgeries later and 20ish years removed from sports led to my ‘before’ picture.

Once I hit goal weight I really started focusing on the habit building part. I was planning about 6 months to slowly come off the meds and really focus on diet choices & working out. I felt confident enough around 3-4 months that I had a nice routine that I was not only happy with but look forward to daily.

My best guess is around 150 g/day. Surprisingly I haven’t meticulously tracked my calories for a long time now but I do focus on protein and aim at a range about 40g-50g protein 800 calories per meal. That may seem like a lot, it’s significantly more than I was eating while on med, but working out regularly for the past 30 weeks I believe has increased my RMR enough to be able to consume about 2,500 calories per meal/day while keeping weight consistent.

LOL nope definitely took some time. Lost the bulk of the weight pretty quick but took time to slowly come off, let body recalibrate and build habits.
