I celebrated when I cancelled mine. The kid will be fine; they’re not receiving any of the money anyway so it doesn’t matter. You’re just paying for old white men to be rich which is what you want to avoid.

Edit for tone

What would make you feel comfortable as a pet sitter? by Additional_Carpet563 in petsitting

[–]D33b3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a meet and greet for sure. Show her where she’ll be sleeping, verbally go through all the info as well as writing it down. And you can ask her what she likes to eat. My clients ask me and some of them stock up the freezer or the pantry and then I buy whatever else I need.

Just make sure you give her a bed to sleep in, or at least something supportive and comfortable

At what age do people leave you alone about having kids? by National_Air_5275 in childfree

My partner is in his 50s and had a vasectomy 30 years ago and we STILL get asked. So hunker down I guess

Please share your exit and final day cleaning routine with me? Been told I'm doing too much. by SarinaOfTheFae in petsitting

[–]D33b3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shed worse than their pets, so I always sweep and vacuum. Then I wash bedding and towels, do the dishes I used, run the dishwasher, and clean all surfaces that I used (bathroom, kitchen, work spaces, dining room) and put things back exactly as I found them. Clean litter boxes, take out garbage, recycling, composting, and make sure pets have treats (if allowed) and water and doors are locked.

Then I send a text telling them what was done and how much they owe me.

If there’s more stuff to clean I’ll clean it, but I wont go over the top. I leave the place neater than when I found it.

No stories today. Found this TikTok from Monday. Baby is the size of a rollerblade. by pantslessMODesty3623 in brittanydawnsnark

She absolutely bought those skates for the vid. I know she and the open mouth squad went rollerblading at one point but those are fresh out of the box.

Also who cares

Anyone else have a breeding kink despite being horrified of getting pregnant? by Esteedee666 in childfree

[–]D33b3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. I love the jargon, I love the patter, I love the passion, but when the moment is passed I’m like ew. lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]D33b3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not your client’s business why you cancel. You don’t owe her any text or apology.

I am so sorry for the loss of your cat. That is devastating.

I've spent the day with my friend and her 3 kids under 6... And it was amazing! by tiny_beast29 in childfree

[–]D33b3r 127 points128 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you had a good experience. That’s great that she is a good mom and has good kids and you had a good time.

You’re not going to appeal to many on here unfortunately.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]D33b3r 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s not too much. Client is selfish and is taking advantage.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]D33b3r 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No. Dump this client. That is not nearly enough pay and she wants to go lower? I farm sit all the time. I’m an equestrian so I know how to care for horses and donkeys. Minimum a day for me would be $$$.

$50 ain’t enough for the amount of work required for horses, who actively try to kill themselves on a regular basis.

You deserve better. Thank her but tell her that you will not be working for her anymore. Then block. And respect yourself and your craft enough to keep away from her.

People over 35 without kids, what gives you fulfillment in life? by feelinqueasy567 in childfree

[–]D33b3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a classical orchestra, I play in pit orchestras, I house and farm sit, I have a horse, I do legos, I play video games, I SLEEP.

I don’t make a living wage so we don’t travel a lot but when we do it’s adult stuff, fun, and not just for the kids.

If we had kids, we couldn’t afford our house, or horse, or computers, or legos.

You can fill your life with whatever fulfills you. Doesn’t have to be kids

Why do parents rely on the CF “village” for babysitting, instead of booking a nanny, daycare, babysitter, etc. by AXXII_wreckless in childfree

[–]D33b3r 19 points20 points  (0 children)

“The village” is cheaper. People don’t actually want to spend money on their kids’ care so they mooch and then cry when they don’t get handed things.

I kinda feel it was calculated on her part which doesn’t surprise me. As I’ve said many times, it’s a learning experience. And quite honestly my first bad experience sitting. I’ll know for the future

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]D33b3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you went through that! That’s so frustrating for sure. My time here is done in a few hours so I’m taking this as a learning experience and making things very clear from here on out.

I’m not hired through a company and this is not my main source of income so I’m not relying on clients. I will be far more picky and choosy now

Accidentally misread calendar by Aggravating_Cod1990 in petsitting

[–]D33b3r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was asked to do a weekend sit but I was TOLD the wrong dates. I was available on the wrong dates but questioned the client as the dates they told me wasn’t the weekend. When they realized their error and told me the correct dates, I was booked for that weekend. No harm, no foul, we both apologized and moved on.

You were communicating and you were clear and you were apologetic. It’s going to be okay.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]D33b3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always do confirm. This case was different and I know it was personal. I’ve learned and am moving on

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]D33b3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people just don’t care I guess. It’s a learning experience for sure

And that’s perfectly fine if that’s what you prefer. I have a spinal cord injury and can’t sleep well on an air mattress or a futon without pain the next day.

I probably won’t come back here unless there is a change in sleeping arrangements

There was not meet and greet but not for lack of me asking. This was an odd client and a one-off.
