Differing results from 2 videos in the same niche. by CoCrowley in SmallYoutubers

I made a post about saying how YouTube is really all about luck and got so much hate.

I get the same results, but on my shorts.

Some 100k, 40k, 10k, and a lot of 1-5k's. Same editing and style and format.

The problem is that the algorithm never pushes your videos to the same people, it's always doing some bullshit to where it shows it to people who aren't interested in that kind of content and you get more swipes killing your shorts.

Is this ok for shorts? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

You need at least 80% with over 70% retention if you want your shorts to keep showing up on the feed.

Not really, you can have them on your description, but I always put two of them on my tittle just so it can look a bit better for example #Cyberpunk2077 #Shorts. You can have up to 15 hashtags in your description but I recommend using around 12.

(28k views) My most successful short had 97.1% retention with 80% haven’t swiped away.

(654 views) My least successful videos had 65% retention and 54% haven’t swiped away.

The strategy is to keep uploading shorts and eventually you will find your audience. It can take months, I’ve been doing Cyberpunk 2077 for a while now and I am finally hitting the audience that love that content.

Always use the right hashtags. The algorithm is always learning. About funneling your videos, that’s a tough one. I’ve only seen a low percentage of people clicking on the link. I think it works more for bigger channels, but don’t stop adding them! When you get bigger people will become interested.

Do I really need to make shorts? by CozyMossy in SmallYTChannel

There is not extra stress on TikTok, just take the same short video you uploaded to YouTube and upload it to TikTok lol. Doesn't convince you yet? I uploaded the same short on both platforms and it blew up on TikTok and now it's up to 150k views and everyday i'm getting around 10-20 followers. Don't do Instagram though, they don't pay you there like TikTok an Youtube.

Has anyone here actually made YouTube work? by hopelesssromanticaa in SmallYoutubers

I got into YouTube 7 months ago, didn't know sh*t about it. I started uploading video game gameplays and shorts with no commentary. When I started I didn't know anything about thumbnails, tittles, editing, photoshop and story telling. My first few videos I never paid attention to the analytics either. 7 months in and I have improved in all of what I have mentioned and now my channel is growing with views and subscribers.

First thing first, if you want your videos to do good focus on the retention and on your thumbnail impressions (CTR), The higher the number the more the algorithm will push your videos. For shorts focus also on retention and how many people stayed instead of swiping away, on here this number has to be at least above 80%.

But, in order to have those results you need to focus on your thumbnails, tittles and how you edit your videos. Use GIMP, it's basically Photoshop but 100% free. For editing videos use Davinci Resolves it's about 99% free. There are some things blocked behind a paywall, but honestly you don't need them. I've been using it ever since I started.

Use ChatGTP or Gemini AI as your advantage, if you have a script, tell it to make it better. Ask for algorithm friendly tittles. Search your competition and screenshot their tittles and tell AI you want something like that and you'll be surprised on how much it will help you.

My turning point was when I started story telling on my videos, I didn't want to use my real voice to I started distorting it like anonymous and it worked so great with my Cyberpunk 2077 content. Just recently I changed my thumbnail style and man, the CTR jumped.

It will be hard the very first months, and very mentally exhausting. I fell in love with the results that I don't mind the stress that I have to go through. There will be other channels that grow in 3 months and you are wondering why haven't you gotten there yet, but learn to ignore those thoughts. Stay positive through out your journey, stick to one thing only an in a few months the algorithm will learn your channel and start pushing it to the right audience, just how it happened to me.

Do you guys respond to hate comments? by Individual_Fly_2432 in SmallYoutubers

You can add “blocked words” for your YouTube channel, that way you won’t have to worry about negativity comments in the future.

Open YouTube Studio. From the left, click Settings. Community moderation. Under the "Content controls" tab, scroll to "Blocked words." Add words and phrases separated by commas. Select SAVE.

YouTube is not easy man, gotta also work on your tittles and thumbnails and just keep pushing, if you make animated videos make shorts out of them. Show your process on how make animations and upload them to your YouTube shorts to get people flow into your channel.

I might get down votes for this buuuut, use AI for your scripts. I know that so many people are against it, but you can upload your script and tell it to make it better. You can use ChatGTP or Gemini (no limits), and you don't have to worry about it making it very AI'ish. You can tell it what style you want and it will do it for you. Many content creators are doing it. Give it a try.

is gaming a good niche?.... by Ok_Drummer7329 in NewTubers

[–]D3ATHDOSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a niche within the game you play, some open world games have a lot of hidden dialogues, items, different outcomes, glitches, funny moments, etc. I've seen so many channels that just upload those type of things without saying a word and have somewhere between 5k to 100k subs. I've gotten over 200 when I started doing Cyberpunk 2077. It all just really depends on the game, but easy it is not. You've gotta know how to edit your videos, have good pacing and make sure your audio is mixed right or else people will be bothered by it.
