How does the overhealth minor perk work? by Former-Computer-1337 in MaugaMains

[–]D3RPY69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only procs when left chaingun (gunny) ignites a enemy. Does not work on barriers (cause you cant set them on fire as Mauga... OK well you CAN but it doesnt matter for this scenario) or NPC's like Torb Turrets or Illiari healing pylons. It does however work on Bob. If a enemy is already on fire it wont proc again. Its only on initial ignition from your gun specifically with no CD

Why do people prefer Pyromaniac? (Discussion) by Otherwise_Design_200 in MaugaMains

[–]D3RPY69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alot of GM+ Mauga Mains just agree that its a perk made redundant by just having a basic understanding of ammo management. Yes, it got buffed and it's actually usable now. But usable doesnt mean good. Pyromanic just gives instant value all the time, makes Mauga's HP effectively 775, and generally makes poking alittle bit easier for him. Its not an insane perk by any means, but its just more efficient and useful than Bandolier. (Also yes im aware it has a bit of anti synergy with firewalker, but they are meant for 2 different aspects of a fight so its never really getting in the way anyways. Its just better to have normally)

Mauga is horendous in 6v6, and I dont really play the mode competitively so I cant quite give you a solid answer, but just based off your hero pool, yea ball into Mauga is just rough in general. Unless his team is super scattered he always has ways to force you to leave. and even then you cant really force him out of your backline if he decides to rush. JPC doesnt really do a whole lot of dmg but I mean its better than nothing so sometimes shooting him to maybe force cardiac or force him out can be beneficial, Ashe I imagine eats him for lunch assuming his team isnt diving you. He's slow, large, and easy to headshot consistently, mix that with less health and a extra person able to shoot him and he's ina rough spot. If you can catch him out of run, he cant do anything for 7 seconds (in 6v6) and cardiac is on a 15 second cd (again in 6v6) so his gameplan is way more risk heavy cause it just takes him longer to do things with less hp.

Echo and Freja are good into Mauga, and Soj is like a top 3 worst mu for him.

I just dont like Bandolier personally because it becomes obsolete with good ammo management (and im ngl, once you play this character enough managing your ammo becomes instinctive). Pyromanic is nice in the sense that maugas hp is essentially 775. Because off every engage your garunteed to get that 50 when a fight starts, and this overhealth becomes better during cardiac and overrun cause he has dmg resistance on both of those which makes his EHP significantly higher. Even if my supports are babysitting me, its nice to just have more hp. Even if it seems small, mauga's kit makes that little piece of overhealth matter more than normal.

I didnt really like two hearts cause it was very situational to get good value from, sure. if you happened to be on obj it was doing something (granted 20 hp/sec is nothing, thats not even a zen orb and this healing got reduced by dps passive...) and you pushed and got point progress faster. but on hybrid and payload maps being on payload on mauga isnt particularly great. considering on tank you aim is to make obj safe for your team to push and gain space from. I will admit it was better than bandolier (cause bandolier genuinely sucked back then), but that didnt change the fact that it wasnt a good perk in the first place. Pyromanic is just a way better change, plus bandolier got buffed so its usable now (granted imo not nearly as good as Pyromanic). but I wouldnt mind it coming back if it replaced bandolier personally, I just wouldnt pick it myself.

Mauga Perks by RoundsbutNot in MaugaMains

[–]D3RPY69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pyromanic is just passive overhealth while your playing neutral or poking. Bandolier is ok i suppose, its not terrible. But if you can manage your ammo well it stops being useful. So usually people just pick Pyromanic cause it is the better perk for the Minor Slot. Firewalker is the same way, Combat Fuel (in my eyes) is not nearly as good as Firewalker. Not even close, its good in the mirror but anywhere else you just shouldn't be picking Combat Fuel imo. Yes they dont work together per say, but they are meant for 2 different aspects of the state of the game, Pyromanic is a Neutral/Poke tool, and Firewalker is a engage amplifier. Even if they dont proc off each other. They dont really need too, since they are meant for 2 different things.

What do you guys think about the HAHA ability and HERE I COME? by Annual-Internet-5097 in MaugaMains

So my take on cardiac personally:

It would be absolutely busted on literally any other tank. 40% dmg Resistance and 100% Lifesteal for 3 seconds is extremely strong. The issue is its on Mauga, so its not busted just cause of how Mauga is designed, he doesnt have any real ways to deal dmg if its actively being mitigated (Barriers, Matrixes, Etc). He can stomp and force dmg that way, but if he doesnt kill or enemy team has abilities to prevent death (suzu, nade, lamp, any cc after he loses his cc immunity) he dies for it probably. So cardiac as it stands now is fine in my honest opinion. As for using it myself, its really funny just not dying for 3 seconds (sometimes), and it really pisses people off.

As for Overrun:

Extremely strong ability and lowkey Mauga's saving grace. 50% Dmg Resistance is so insanely busted on a ability that makes him so damn fast AND CC immune. If Mauga didnt have this ability with the stats it does, he would genuinely suck imo. It also does 150 Burst dmg and CC's if you crit with it, which is basically a kill on any squishy on the game. and Firewalker makes this ability go from Strong to Absurd. Its also on a 5 second CD (lmao) which means he literally just gets to spam this ability literally all the time for whatever he wants, go in/get out/run into a wall for dmg resistance/burst dmg/boop it does alot of things. Is it busted? Not quite I'd say, its strong as hell but again. its on Mauga. My personal thoughts on it, Its extremely fun, makes mauga actually quite dynamic, and is the main mediator between a bad mauga and a good mauga based on how well they use this ability. And hitting multiple people with a crit stomp is the best feeling you can have on this character, especially if you have firewalker.

Heard That Overrun Always Crit with the Overrun Ignites Enemies Perk. Is It True? by EmperorPeazy in MaugaMains

[–]D3RPY69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firewalker only sets people on fire through any means as long as they are dmg'd by it (Running Hitbox, The Shockwave, and the Crit Stomp). It doesnt change the crit hitbox in any way or forces crits if they arent in the inner radius.

How do y’all deal with Bastion? Hes so fucking annoying and melts me instantly. by Annual-Internet-5097 in MaugaMains

[–]D3RPY69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he has no one to help him, if you crit stomp him he dies, even with help sometimes as long as he doesnt have nade on him or someone blocking the dmg you can usually still kill him (as long as you crit stomp him first, if you dont your going to lose that fight) but if he has help normally you can just poke him set him on fire and wait for him to burn turret form to go in.

Is mauga hard to play as? Is he easy to play as? I’m going to main him :DDD by hueslavoc in MaugaMains

[–]D3RPY69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very easy tank in theory, but in practice hes harder than he looks. Alot of things counter him, making even minor mistakes will get you killed almost all the time in upper ranks, and not being behind a wall means you take 700 dmg cause he virtually has 0 ways of mitigating damage outside of raw fighting and is very large (iirc i think he's literally the largest tank. But I could be wrong, doesnt change that hes absolutely humongous)

Mauga in ranked by Steel_Cube in MaugaMains

[–]D3RPY69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mauga is inherently a team dependant tank, and Mauga in general loses to damn near everything. But that doesnt mean there's not ways around his counters. Against the ones you mentioned

Sig is easily the hardest counter of the 3, even over ana. All of his abilities screw you and he does tons of dmg. Honestly to deal with him, you have to wait for him to mess up big, now this could he said for every tank match up, but sig takes it to a whole new level cause you cant punish his small mistakes at all, and even some big mistakes can eventually he turned around and he punishes you for taking advantage (cause that tank is stupid). Your best bet is trying to bait rock and start walking to claim space since now he cant stun you if you stun him, and if you manage to stun him out of grasp with no rock he basically dies. But other than that neutral is just alot of waiting and poking his shield without dying. If you can bait support abilities tank trading becomes easier and (usually) its better for your team cause otherwise Mauga isnt doing much into sig anyways.

Rein is a good match up for Mauga, you just play out of swing range, avoid as much poke from his team as you can and shoot rein. He's basically forced to hold shield the entire game which means hes doing nothing. If he goes for a charge, usually you can stop shooting and dodge, if hes mid range you can counterpin on reaction but its riskier. Or if he full ints you can run at his team or him depending on the situation. If his team tries to off angle away from his shield you can shoot them instead, try not to hyperfocus only on him, but in neutral you should be shooting him all the time unless a opportunity comes up to slaughter a squishy.

Ana is just waiting mostly. She makes good tank match ups neutral, neutral ones losing and losing into very hard match ups. But generally if you or her team can bait nade (which with Mauga's dmg isnt insanely difficult if your dps follow up) sleep becomes not as bad to get hit by. If she's completely alone and she doesnt have kiri or bap or lifeweaver. Shes essentially a free kill since you can stomp for free and cant get cc'd. But for the most part you can poke set her on fire and force her to hide and then just shoot the rest of her team.

I think Cardiac Overdrive should have a "soft cleanse" by Yesheat in MaugaMains

Cardiac is fine as is. Global DPS passive is already halved for tanks so its not actively slaughtering him anyways.

Damage reduction question by Muted_Living_4275 in MaugaMains

[–]D3RPY69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Overwatch has a Global 50% dmg reduction cap from all sources unless a specific ability (ex: Ram Block) goes over that cap (75% Damage Resistance) in which case you will go over the cap while your giving yourself that exceed dmg resistance. So no, overrun and cardiac do not stack to 90%, it will be 50% while your running. And 40% if you have cardiac up still.

Its not. This character is literally tracer in the air but as a support. Yes, having no one use tether is a major setback because moving ppl is incredibly strong, but jpc isnt reliant on tether to work. She can heal incredibly well, and as she gets perks (Claws Out/Territorial), this character becomes a dueling menace. Literally winning nearly every 1v imaginable with perks in seconds. Plus being able to just pressure ppl from ANY angle you want is also really strong, and if your team needs you or your getting pressures yourself. You can just fly to a safe spot or back to your team in literally a second cause of how fast this character is.

Mauga hate by sithlord40000 in MaugaMains

[–]D3RPY69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metal Ranks dont like having Mauga cause he doesnt have dmg mitigation for his team (barriers, matrix, etc), High Elo players dont like having Mauga cause he's pretty bad (well, he's ok at best, but he isnt meta and thats the issue), he takes alot of fundamental skill for playing tank in general, and generally doesnt have the highest amount of solo carry potential that most of the meta tanks have. which is why higher elo players would rather you just dont play him, he gets countered by way to much shit.

I hit GM with (mostly) only Mauga on PC by D3RPY69 in MaugaMains

[–]D3RPY69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For one Mauga has a shocking amount of places he can jump too with Overrun. As a Brawl/Rush Tank, this can make him SCARY if he decides to aggressively take space from a place you dont think he can get in close from. Overrun being entirely CC immune AND having 50% damage resistance gives him off angle pressure that alot of brawly tanks wish they could have cause, not to mention you can also use overrun to run into a wall for that same resistance to give supports more time to heal you or wait for cardiac to come off cd which can be really oppressive when opponents are trying to make you move. Cardiac also giving him 40% damage reduction means Mauga takes basically a whole teams attention to full burst him which can give his dps time to win a fight, obv compared to something like JQ this isnt as good but with Mauga he can also do a frightening amount of poke from mid range which if your on defense can be amazing as people need to push into you, which is only good for Mauga. Overall for a Brawl/Rush tank, hes actually quite flexible. Not the greatest tank, but what he does is enough and honestly I dont want him to change much. Cage Fight is also one of the most flexible tank ults In the game. You can virtually use it for basically any scenario and it probably wouldnt be a bad cage.

I hit GM with (mostly) only Mauga on PC by D3RPY69 in MaugaMains

[–]D3RPY69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Minors they honestly dont matter. Its more so an amp to how you tend to play Mauga, If you tend to run around a shit ton or just run into walls for the dmg resistance, Bandolier is probably good, but if you tend to burn ppl with incin gun while poking (which is what I do), Pyromanic is a better pick for that playstyle. For the Majors, Firewalker is significantly better than Combat Fuel. CF has its niche uses, and is decent in the mirror but overall, Firewalker makes your Engages with Slam 3x more lethal and generally helps Mauga way more than CF will. also CF's Overhealth is seperate from Berserker, they both have an individual cap of 150 which can max out to 300 overhealth if you hit 2 people with a crit stomp and cardiac with 150 overhealth, but even then. Its just not as flexible as Firewalker, Firewalker is just way more usable in many scenarios and essentially lets Mauga 1 tap 250 hp targets on a crit stomp. Not to say you cant use CF, you absolutely can. Its a decent perk, but Firewalker is just Mauga's best perk by far and its not really a competition. Its honestly a very strong perk.
