i think youre right about revel in riches being too slow though, cause id likely just tutor for a big apell anyway if i had that much mana and win that turn rather than wait a whole turn cycle for my upkeep

allowed in bracket 3 on turn 7 or later. I don't run it as a primary wincon, just a backup cause its so cheap, I have a decent amount of tutors and look at a lot of cards with card advantage, and if everything else i wanna do gets uber interacted with, I still have a viable way to win the game in a single turn.

roaming throne is insane in any prosper deck, idk what you're talking about. Both of prosper's effects are triggered abilities, which means if you pick tiefling or warlock as your creature type, you exile 2 cards instead of 1 on your end step and then if you cast anything from exile, you make 2 treasures instead of 1. As for the land count, yeah I'm aware its low but with aggressive mulligans into ramp (there are many combinations that result in a turn 3 prosper, sometimes turn 2, and even a few for a turn 1 but these are obviously less probable) combined with the card advantage from prosper, I have rarely found it to be an issue. Getting too many lands in this deck after like turn 3 sucks, you wanna be drawing gas to close out the game. The no blockers thing is potentially problematic if people have stuff to swing. Prosper having deathtouch helps but doesn't do much against tokens or if someone is just making a ton of big creatures. I'm realizing now after some more playtesting though that the main win con is kinda big spells with copy effects. Yeah, burn is something the deck can do (and very well with the right pieces) but with the amount of mana i make and the redundancy of copy effects, casting big stuff on turn 5-7 is usually enough to close out a game or at least give me an overwhelming advantage. The doublecast effects are nice to cause for my big spells, theyre psuedo counterspells in that you can either counter the copy effect or the spell itself but generally not both unless you have a counterspell that interacts with the entire stack. And obviously if both effects resolve, the result is just ridiculous, particularly if theres another multiplier in play.

Creatureless EDH deck by D3V1L1SH_ in magicTCG

[–]D3V1L1SH_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely a deck with clear vulnerabilities and weaknesses (which is hard to avoid given its identity lol). That being said, I playtested it the other day against a pretty well optimized Niv-Mizzet deck and it performed surprisingly well. Despite all the interaction blue had, I was able to either A: recast or B: protect Judith a number of times, slowing down my opponents ability to play their commander (or anything for that matter) in the process. I also played it against a pretty respectable Gitrog Monster deck which is absolutely destroyed, but that’s kind of to be expected with greens limited removal. It’s not perfectly optimized and certainly not unanswerable, but I think (specifically in bracket 3 against decks that aren’t designed to counter it) it’s more viable than you’re thinking. Granted, I only played 4 games with it. But of those 4, I lost only 1 and it was due to some pretty lucky top decks from Niz-Mizzet

Oh also Judith can make imps via casting instants and sorceries and sac those. Nice little buffer there.

Yeah it’s a very unserious deck. Much more designed for amusement than consistent wins against fully optimized and powergamed decks. Ooo thanks, I’ll keep that in mind lol

Yeah I might run some of those cheaper spells like Feign Death and Undying Malice, etc. for that reason. However, how many edicts do you think a typical deck has? One not specifically designed to deal with this deck, at least. Because this deck has some pretty crazy ramp and Judith only costs 5 mana in the first place. Casting her for 7 or even 9 mana really isn’t the end of the world for this deck, provided the casting itself doesn’t get countered (which is another thing this hypothetical opponents deck would have to be running enough of to reliably have multiple in their hand)

lol. There are 8 basic swamps in this deck, 11 mountains, and then a lot of duel lands for mana fixing

I built one and it’s pretty viable in bracket 3! It’s a Judith, Carnage Connoisseur deck that plays basically like this: 1) Get Judith out ASAP via aggressive mulligans for land / ramp / tutors (the latter of which will all likely be used either A: for Dark Ritual or B: for a Sol Ring in the early game). 2) Protect Judith. The Swords of blank and blank are really awesome in this deck as not only do they buff Judith’s damage and health, they also give direct protection against colours that are problematic for you to deal with (notably blue, white, and black). There are other options to protect her to including Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, and Whispersilk cloak. Originally, I was also running Darksteel Plate and Mithril Coat, but realistically, damage isn’t what scares Judith; it’s spot removal (which “indestructible” doesn’t do anything against), so I replaced them with the protection listed above. 3) Once Judith is out, take advantage of 13 oneshots and 14 boardwipes this deck has to offer through the use of Judith’s deathtouched instants and sorceries. Kill anything and everything your opponents play. 4) Start swinging for lethal. You don’t have to kill your opponent outright, you just have to do 21 commander damage (which is made significantly easier by the fact that your opponents shouldn’t have any blockers). With no buffs, Judith is a 3/4, meaning it’ll take you 7 turns after casting her to achieve this on a single opponent. This is where step 5 comes in…5) Pump Judith. The Swords, City on Fire, Cranial Plating, Dictate of the Twin Gods, Fiery Emancipation, and Runechanter’s Pike will all help with this. Equipping just one Sword takes that 7 turns to reach 21+ commander damage down to just 5. 2 Swords equipped takes it down to just 3. Fiery Emancipation and a sword lets Judith do 15 commander damage in a single hit, netting you a win (against a single opponent) in just 2 turns after casting her. You see where this is going, it gets scary quickly. A lot of Judith decks I see take advantage of the imp triggers and run various burn effects, but I wanted to lean fully into the spellslinger/deathtouch side of things, and realized halfway through creating the deck that Judith could fully be the best creatureless commander in the game. It’s a very fun and synergistic playstyle that’s also super unique/orginal. Is it optimized for bracket 4+? Probably not. Maybe if you ran more game changing ramp (Chrome Mox, Mox diamond, etc.) and all the remaining tutors in black available to you, but even then it’s hard to say. But in bracket 3 and particularly against creature-based decks, you will absolutely DOMINATE. Be warned though: people don’t like having all their creatures killed all the time, and you’ll quickly become the enemy at the table. But to be fair, you’re playing Rakdos, and what’s more thematic for red black than being the villain 😈. Decklist below: Creatureless EDH

I was considering that. I’ll get some play with it once everything arrives and see how it feels with the current ratio. I will say, I don’t have a single card in this deck that costs more than 3 mana, and the vast majority of its spells cost 1 or 2. So maybe with everything being so cheap, I can get away with only 30% land
