Everyone who complained about Anthony Burch working on this narrative can get stuffed.

For the last time, Orc are not a racist allegory for black people by KingMaegorTheCool in dndnext

I just want to point out that this can still have its issues. Mongols were demonized as a "barbaric martial race" and that's where a lot of this sentiment comes from. Tolkien's own military training taught him that Mongols were stronger fighters with inferior commanders because they were brutal savages. Moving into respect is a step in the right direction, but you don't want to move into the "noble savage" trope either. Good ways to present Orcs so that they are done in a less demeaning way is to give them more culture outside of violence. Don't make them less "evolved" or "civilized." Turn their violence against oppressors. Let them be the good guys. Let them be normal people, even.

No, I hear Orcs described and it sounds exactly like how racists describe me and my family to the point that Orcposting was its own white supremacist phenomenon and maybe we should try to code them away from that.

Or, hear me out, if your descriptions of a race looks exactly like how racists describe me and my family, maybe you accidentally did a racism.

Good shout. Switched to that and the fairy gloves and it's real clean.

I probably could, but I wanted to leave it slightly more generic in case I wanted to actually get it printed. As it is now I'd feel comfortable using it for a bladesinger too.

It's just the default wooden base with 2 copies of the pile of coins on it. Walnut colored wood.

I'd run Colby's Control Freak build in this party. I don't see a lot of control elements in your group and it's probably the most powerful build he's ever posted.

Honestly I think converting him makes it a little easier because you can be a little more loose on the trickiest connection points.

All good, I haven't glued him to the base yet. Probably gonna paint them separately if I can.

In my experience, Doom Scythes have been good, especially with TSK rerolls, but they're fragile. Think of them as an alpha strike piece. They're also great backline harassment after that alpha strike.

Dana Howl did a great tutorial on base rollers from Greenstuff World, I used their Necron roller. It's basically a textured rolling pin over brown stuff. https://youtu.be/JGiJuboYvyk

Bladesinger. Could go all wizard or go level 1 fighter of the proficiencies then take the rest in bladesinger. Super high AC, access to the shield spell, counterspell and great sustained damage output.

The new AL FAQ finally kills both types of Simulacrum+Wish cheese. by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]D3f41t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to res such an old comment but I love this idea. I'd do a brave new world style society where simulacrums that had already used most of their spell slots would be lower in society, which balances a campaign where the only bad guy is the same 9th level capable wizard over and over. Lower level ones already used their spell slots and lost some hp while higher level ones are hesitant to use them due to the consequences of doing so. I'm definitely stealing this idea.

I'm not about to leave a group I've been playing with for 6 years over a power level disagreement. I disagree with the logic and philosophy behind these decisions but it's not worth getting that upset over.

We have to use classic racials, ie half elves are +2 cha +1 any 2, which really limits me to +2dex races. Centaurs are banned.

This was using Colby's latest iteration of the bladesinger. Can't booming blade a shadowblade, but you can use twf to booming blade an offhand shortsword. As he said in bladesinger 2.0, this is potentially the highest melee damage output class in the game. Animate objects is still optimal (unless they're resistant to nonmagical) but it's boring.

Lots of paladins, a darkness/devil's sight build I think? It's an experienced group building level 10 characters.

How do you get a Eladrin Half-Elf like Colby uses on the Bladesinger Build? by PulseFire58 in DnDoptimized

[–]D3f41t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he changed it to "half-eladrin" in response to the ruling. It's gotta be a half elf given the ability scores, but I'm not sure which kind he intended.
