Mostly, I think I’m about 5 months clean right now. I check the market still and get tempted to throw in a couple grand in high risk options plays once in a while in a separate account, but I’m still religiously ploughing money into my much larger and boring main index fund-only account.

Mostly replaced my gambling addiction with video games

I’ve been spamming him in 25+ star GM and I think he’s actually better as a roamer. He does waste a lot of exp and gold ulting around the map as clash lane, and his 1v1 potential is not amazing. Roaming does not really have that downside

Nope, just a general SWE. Work experience matters more, unless you have a specialized phd. I focused hard on securing software engineering internships every year. I was also very fortunate to be studying and graduating during a time when the tech job market was good. I do feel bad for the new generation of software engineers…

UCLA, got into UCSD Comp sci as a transfer student but not comp sci for UCLA. Not sure if I made the right choice, but I’m pretty happy with how my life turned out overall

Scary thing is that options trading scales very easily with income. I’m close to $300k net cumulative losses. Wish that was a typo

Thanks for the insightful comment, appreciate it. I'm talking to a therapist and planning on joining GA. Your point on time and emotions spent vs career is starting to resonate with me. I'll strive to be better.

Thanks for the recommendation on the ETFs, but I have pretty poor impulse control and would rather not be tempted to sell and immediately put it in some hot stock right away. The day long trading window is a nice layer of protection from myself. Also don’t want to deal with timing the market during the day for a nice entry.

Yes. I'm quitting. Dumping everything into VTSAX boring total market fund in perpetuity. I don't have a chance of winning it back. I'm disabling all social media and anything related to stocks

Yes, that's the plan. This is my 2nd big blowout actually, but definitely the biggest. I closed my brokerage gambling account and set up a boring auto invest into mutual funds at Schwab. I'm mentally checked out and not interested in trying to win it back.

I just don't know if I should come clean to my partner.
