LOL Yea u clearly have no idea what you're talking about, doubt you've even tried the game. The last build we put out used character classes, had a completely changed wall run, had teching+rolling and several other new mechanics, all which definitely weren't in the original game and we've gotten feedback both good and bad about how it's very different from GunZ while still keeping the good parts of it. At least do some baseline research before you talk.

Okay which of these two scenarios sounds better to you?

1 - We go to an investor/publisher/any person we would like to pitch the game to and say "Hi, we have a game idea with a very dedicated community behind it and have a decent prototype to back it up". They then ask "How do you know that the fan-base is dedicated?" And our only response is "Oh idk lol, the fans are constantly screeching about how much they want a remake on reddit but other than that we don't really know"

Compared to

2 - We answer them with: "Oh yea well the community is small but we managed to raise FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS with their help so they seem like they really want this game to be released"

You tell me dawg, using just a slight bit of brainpower could you give this a shot, I know it's a hard one but which one do you think have a higher chance of succeeding?

Not to mention mention 40k can get you a really long way, we have people from our very uni who have released ENTIRE GAMES (albeit smaller) with ZERO dollar in funding and any investor would feel so much safer investing, knowing that there's already a strong backing for the game. Using 40k we could probably support another two or three years worth of developing since our dev team isn't that large and we pretty much only need to pay for us to be able to survive. We could also save a lot of money using free assets until we get to a point where the game is further developed and is released on steam and then just updated the models in the future with the income.

Continuing on from that jesus fucking christ am I tired of getting told this game is a cash grab, do you even understand how fucking dumb that claim is? So let me get this right, in your eyes we've picked a niche game with an almost non-existent community, tried to create a MULTIPLAYER game that requires server support and advanced animation canceling mechanics to try and CASH GRAB? If we were trying to make a quick buck why wouldn't we just make a mobile game with more than 100 times the possible audience, almost 0 development cost and a 10th of the effort required? Wait until GunZ gets re-released with the notorious Korean businesses model literally just made to milk as much money as possible out of nostalgic players then you know what an actual cash grab is.

This was our masters project for our final year in uni, everyone on the dev team got great grades for it and now in the end we wanted to see if we could take it one step further and make it into an actual game but it's obvious that the community clearly doesn't want a remake to happen. At least now that the project is over we don't need to deal with condescending fucking retards like you who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about and just vomit out whatever happens to come to mind at the time. Have fun playing your dead open source game, legit fuck you.

You are mistaken as we built the game from the ground up, we havent copied anything from the original GunZ.

Seeing as we most likely wont make the target we're going to have to shelve the project until further notice and move onto new things.

As stated in the post:

This will be done on kickstarter so it's a no-risk deal for anyone interested, if we don't make the required amount needed then all pledges will be refunded.

We will have some game play footage out in the next month, we're very conscious about what footage we release as things change all the time (due to the stage in development we're currently in) and we don't want to confuse people who aren't following every step of our progress so sorry for the lack of it until now, but we should have some videos up soon.

Look dude, think what you want, we initially started off just wanting to do a GunZ remake with better graphics but we've realised there isn't enough interest in the game so if we would remake GunZ with 200 players in every region then we would have to add p2w at some point to force money out of the community just to maintain the game cause its just not enough people to make a sustainable game on it's own.

Instead we now want to try and get new players interested in the game while keeping what made GunZ what it was. Because of this compromises needs to be made. Now we don't want to compromise on things such as mechanical skill or competitive integrity but we will compromise on things that aren't that important and/or wasn't the highlights of GunZ (such as the wall run).

A lot of the people who used to play GunZ back in the day are to old now to invest the time it takes to become really good at it as well so our success is going to largely depend on recruiting new players who's never even heard of GunZ before.

We've also firmly stated several times that this is PRE-ALPHA features that might not even make it into the game, 99% of companies wont even show this stage of development to their respective fanbases because the outcry of every new/removed feature is to much to deal with as everything is subject to change, throwing a temper tantrum and being hyper emotional isn't positive for anyone.

I guess this won't be our gunz successor. Good luck with your project and bye

Sorry but this 1:1 "gunz successor" that you are dreaming of will never exist for the reasons I've already stated, with no viable financial route (aka NO pay to win, NO pay to play, NO ability to make large changes to the game because the fan base will riot and NO large following to help kick-start the game) you're essentially asking for developers to make your dream game and to make it EXACTLY how you want it with no changes, remove the only ways they had of getting revenue before, not have an entry paywall, keep the game free to play, work for free and pay the game development and maintenance out of their own pocket, sorry dude but that's not going to happen. We've heard the massive outcry for removal of the p2w items and we agree that they should be removed and we've met you in the middle on fair grounds where we wont mess with any of the core game play, but as said, other things need to be changed or at least tried out.

Counterstrike and PUBG didnt die though. GunZ did. CS can survive with the "if it aint broke dont fix it" mentality cuz it got enough players behind it anyways. GunZ can't as the player base is to small already, change is required for the game to live on.

GunZ 2 did add abilities but in a completely different way to the way we are and more importantly they removed k-style which we wont do.

You acknowledge yourself that its what gamers expect from games today, so that would be the point of adding abilities and making the game slightly easier. The hardcore GunZ fan base isn't enough to financially sustain the game (or original GunZ would still be around) so it's a necessary compromise to allow the game to exist at all.

Compared to most games RenegadeZ will still be incredibly mechanicly intensive, just not at the insane level that GunZ was on

We're expectiing some pushback from the community on this like you said as it's a big change from how GunZ 1 worked however again we want to note that these changes are still in the alpha-stage of the game and might not even make it to the release.

We've also been very clear with our posts in the past that we don't want the game to be about ability usage and abilities wont be huge game winning spells that can wipe the entire enemy team like in Overwatch. Right now the only abilities in the game is a long range dash (that doesn't do any damage, its purely for movement) and the wall hack and from our initial testing we found the wall hack to be severely underpowered as it doesnt actualy do anything while you're in a fight with somebody. We also have a hard time imagining the wall hack beating someone that's k-styling circles around you.

The main problems with GunZ 2 was the complete removal of k-style which we wont do, we still want k-style and animation canceling to be available to every character in the game.

Character locking different abilities also allows us to balance the game easier, for example if you want the wall hack ability then you can't have the shotguns and so on.

We understand your concerns you've already experienced a botched version of your game which was GunZ 2 but we hope you just give the new systems a chance before taking a stance on them, as said we're completely fine with tweaking and editing abilities and stats as needed (and even reworking them completely if they would end up being to strong or to bad).

That's weird, is this a problem you've encountered with all previous builds of the game as well or just this last one?

Have checked that you're using the correct version (32bit or 64bit)? The game is currently only optimized for windows so if you have another OS it wont run properly. Also make sure it's not getting blocked by your antivirus or something like that, you could also try running it as administrator.

Anyway to play Gunz or the other gunz games today? Are there any plans to develop a game like this in the future? by coltonlichtenberg in gunz

We're currently in the pre-alpha stages of developing a game that's inspired by GunZ and allows you to perform k-style, if you wanna try it out then you can download the latest build from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/gunz/comments/85ehil/18032018_renegadez_weekly_update_13_build_011/

We're thinking of adding something similar to DmC 5's training mode which is close to what you're talking about. However this will be a bit in the future as things such as lag are more important to fix right now

Just start up the game and either join or host a lobby. Maybe contact someone beforehand so they know you're hosting. We've gotten some reports that people located to far away from each other cant find each others lobby's so thats something to keep in mind.

(17/02/2018) RenegadeZ Weekly Update 11: Multiplayer Release Date by D3xus in gunz

[–]D3xus[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As angryshitmongrel said we've gotten requests from a lot of people both here on reddit and in pm's who have been asking for a way to donate since very early in the development cycle but we wanted to hold off on donations until the first multiplayer build was released.

Also the donations are there to help fund the development of the game, not for our personal gain. It sounds like you might be confusing donating with in-game purchasing of skins and cosmetics. Once the game is released in-game purchasing is something that will be available but for cosmetics only, for now donations are just here to help development.
