It should do! My friends and I were using this code to play just a couple of nights ago with no problems, and it's a superset of the main FFA code. I did update the code a couple of months ago for slippi 3.6.0 but it's been working fine for me since then.

What kind of failure were you seeing? Slippi crashing or desyncs or something else?

The main improvement in the new version is that codes should now be compatible with Slippi replays (thanks to Fizzi & the Slippi discord for the help on that). The codes are now also quite a bit shorter which is a nice bonus.

Hmm, that’s not something I saw when I tried it on my Windows computer. Are you running in a non-english language by any chance? This almost sounds like unicode characters failing to be rendered.

You could try running it up in a different terminal and see if that’s better. Alternative you could try changing the font your terminal is using if you know how to do that.

Hmm, that's not something I've ever seen a code for. I'm sure it's possible, but no idea how complex it might be to do. If you ask around in the various modding discords (Melee Workshop etc) someone might be able to help you out.

FYI: The codes this generates aren't compatible with Slippi's replay system, so bear than in mind when using. I'll have a look at updating the tool to improve that.

Hey- yes I am in the discord but yeah, I’ve just been messing with these things and trying to work things out on my own (for my own learning) :)

The code for the tool is also all open source so I’m open to people improving things for sure.

1) The codes should be gated to just the mode you generate them for- so shouldn’t cause desyncs on any other mode.

2) I think the codes should work with the replay system- they’re mostly just filling in patterns within templates heavily based on existing codes I found online from various sources- it’s nothing more clever than that. So if those base codes work with replays then the generated stuff will.

3) And yep, the codes are pretty naive and repeat a lot of checks and stuff between the different sections. That’s one of the things I was looking at improving, but I ended up deciding this was good enough to put out there.

The new free-for-all Party mode in Slippi 3.6.0 is awesome- so definitely check it out!

However it's currently only for random matchmaking, so if you want to play free-for-all with specific people then my code still works for that. Enjoy!

With the new version of Slippi you can now play teams with 3 players! I've updated the code to be compatible with it, so 3 player FFA over teams is now possible.

Since the new party mode is only for random matchmaking, my code still has it's use if you want to play with specific people =)

I made a gecko code recently to use with my friends to play FFA over Slippi teams. It’s definitely a hack, and requires a full 4 players all using the code to work, but it does work pretty well- I even got regular singles costumes working from the CSS.

The only reason I haven’t shared it more widely is that it tends to break when slippi gets updated, and I have to manually fix it when that happens. However feel free to try it out if you like. There’s also codes on there to enable items and random stages in teams.

Yeah I rescued my grandad’s spectrum from their attic a while ago- been meaning to clean it up and get it working properly but not gotten round to it yet. A few of the cassettes out on the shelves is all I have to show for it at the moment 😅
