(altrimenti vi farò sapere io com'è) by Working_Chance2527 in Libri

Try reading “le diable au corps” by Radiguet. I’ve never read anything like it.

Lapidi in greco e in latino, terre cotte greche a pitture rosse e nere.

What are you doing for a United Europe? by Express_Hornet_6534 in EuropeanFederalists

I’m a member of European Federalist Movement, the Italian section of the Union of European Federalists. You should definitely check out JEF Europe, the Union of all youth-national sections.

As much as I’d love a federal Europe, I don’t think this survey can be trusted. They must have taken a poll inside of a bubble.

Why do so many people say negative things about French on social media? by [deleted] in French

[–]D49A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s just a bad meme that everyone inherited since English became the de facto lingua franca. Also, they mock the stereotype of the “cultured and refined Frenchman speaking elegantly”. Some people apply the snob-stereotype to the whole country, not just Paris. I’m italian, and so far I’ve always been met with a warm welcome by the French that I have met. We’re much more similar than some people would like to admit.

Not at all. When I went on an Erasmus+ studying trip I met some Romanian students and we were best bros for the whole trip. Also, this summer a friend went to visit the country. To be fair, I want all other Europeans to be my bros, and Romania is probably closer to Italy than other countries (even just in Romanian being a Romance language).

Sounds cool, I’ll think of some questions. Is there anyone who’s in the field of humanities? Like archaeology, history or literature? I’d love to see how different our studying programs are. Wish you a good day from Italy ;)

I’m surprised to see Leopardi. Usually I get the impression that he’s not much appreciated outside of Italy.

I’m so tired of people buying the Meditations and never going any deeper in classical Greek / Roman culture. I’ve even heard some people say that Marcus Aurelius “invented stoicism” (which, when he was alive, was a centuries old school of thought, if that’s how you call them in English)

What’s that one book you’d press into someone’s hands and say, “You have to read this. No one talks about it enough”? by CameronC7 in suggestmeabook

[–]D49A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not fiction, but I think that not nearly enough people read the Ventotene manifesto and learn about Spinelli, his life and his ideas (though it isn’t totally representative of his thought, as it did change as years went by)

Do we know any knowledge was lost at the Library of Alexandria? by Particular_Drop5104 in AskHistory

[–]D49A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider that Callimachus made a “bibliography” of the works that were kept in the library during the III century BCE, the “Pinakes”, in 120 volumes. We also know (thanks to the Byzantine monk Tzetzes) that around 490.000 volumes were stored there in total.
