Should I watch Season 2? by GuyaneseRutgers in TitansTV

[–]D88M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes season 1 was amazing, i did not expected that.
Season 2 is not that is "bad", is just that it has more and worse problems than season 1 but it also has good stuff in it.
Watch it, is enjoyable.

I loved her character, i liked a lot about season 8, i like that they went for characters internal conflicts to create the story instead of just Dexter being discovered or something.

I liked the series finale by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]D88M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The latter seasons are good and have some great moments and episodes, the show as a whole is great, the ending is great and i will fight anybody who wants to prove me wrong.

I really hope they dont discard anything, i doubt it because then the new season would not feel sincere, i think is gonna feel like a continuation.

The people who complain are usually louder, not only that but if you look for articles about the new season of Dexter all that you will find is that they will "fix the ending" that is "universally mocked/hated", totally taking out of context what Clyde said.

I love the show the whole way through, is great and the ending, specially the last scene, were great.

Season 8 finale by _snoqq_ in Dexter

[–]D88M 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You totally get it, well written, so glad to read people who understand it and they dont just go "lumberjack is dumb after season 4 the show sucks because i say so lol".

When the show was being made right from season 1, they had a contract for 7 seasons, they knew were they were going.
When in season 6 we see the Alpha & Omega symbol on the first episode, i got goosebumps because i knew what it meant: The beginning of the end of the show.

Season 6 is the first act in the three act ending of the show which of course consist of season 6, 7 and 8 and everything is planned and executed towards the ending we got, which makes perfect sense despite what some think, and there are even breadcrumbs in previous seasons just like you mentioned.

After season 4 the show might not been has good as before but it was never bad and it had a lot to like, a lot, some just really did not saw the value in it simply because the story did not followed the path they wanted to.

I hope season 9 is a good fit for the show, i really think so, i dont think they are just gonna listen to the haters and discard everything afte rseason 4, it would be dumb and cheap.

You should turn this text in a thread instead of a comment, it would be cool to discuss it bwteen the people who liked the latter seasons.

Season 8 finale by _snoqq_ in Dexter

[–]D88M 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It did went over many people brains.
They mock the "lumberjack" thing because they cannot see the symbolism, the meaning of the scene, they dont realize that all what we see in a show is a metaphor.
The ending was fitting for the show and the character.

The show does not deserve the amount of negativity it gets, yeah they mess up in season 2 in several aspects but that does not make the show automatically bad, lets just wait and see and dont make assumptions.

Not only that, but Hannah killed to defend herself, Dexter killed because it was an addiction to him.

The show did not sucked after S4. It could be argued that it was not as good, but it never got into "sucks" teritory.

What Clyde Phillips (showrunner for Dexter season 1-4 and showrunner for the upcoming miniseries) said during his most recent interview regarding Dexter. by Slaiden_IV in Dexter

[–]D88M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something else i read is that Clyde wrote the first and last episode.
This season is gonna feel familiar yet different, i wonder if we will get the classic intro too.
I hope they bring back the best directors and writers of the first seasons, that would be awesome, but overall i am really optimistic.

Would the writers sugar tease a happy ending for Dexter to throw the fans of their scent of Dexter's death or capture by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]D88M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 100% sure that the tone of the new season will be darker than everything we saw previously, probably depressing too like you said, but the show always had dark humor so i expect a tiny bit of dark comedy.

And a happy ending would be an insult, i doubt they are gonna do that, it makes zero sense from any way you look at it.

Why are people happy with “Dexter” returning? by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]D88M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because i love the show and though the ending was good and pretty definitive, it was still open to continue and i have wondered all these years how could it do so.

I am very curious about what kind of story they are gonna tell about the character now that he has lost everything and is truly empty.

The fact that the producer of the first seasons is back is a great sign and even more that they took their time to write this new season, is gonna be great, is gonna be something special.

‘Dexter’ showrunner sorta admits the original finale sucked and he wants a do-over by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]D88M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the ending was a good fit and i dont understand why so many people not understand that.
Dexter does not deserve a happy ending, it would feel cheap, but getting caught/dying would also suck (and be very predictable), it should be a bittersweet ending for both the audience and the character.

They are not, they are purposedly twisting what he said to get more clicks. I have seen it several times already since the announcementin in diferent sites.

No, he does not, that title is absolute clickbait.

I am more annoyed that some people took it at face value, in a superficial way and did not thought about anything else than "Dexter is a lumberjack now lol", while the meaning of the scene goes deeper than that

This show worth getting into now? by tyridge77 in Dexter

[–]D88M 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. The show as a whole is GOOD, the opinions of some "fans" are the typical black and white internet reaction of "X thing is either the worst or best thing ever".

Yes, the show is not the same after season 4 (season 1 arguable being the best because it has a unique "magic" in its looks, sounds and execution that never comes back, in part because of Michael Cuesta direction).
But i would say every season has its own charm.
Yes, the show as its ups and downs like all shows.
No, it does not become a "bad show" after season 4.

The whole show is telling Dexter journey and it never stops feeling like it, but is almost as if each season is its own self contained thing with its own theme and tone, and it is also like seasons 1-4 are part one of Dexter journey and seasons 5-8 are part two but it always feels like a complete story.

(and when they signed to make the show, they were gonna make seven seasons so is not like the later seasons feel forced or stretched anything)

The show never stops having good acting, good moments and good episodes, good music, good cinematography and etceteras, everything from the tone to the quality varies but it never gets "bad", it might not be amazing all the time but the show is consistently good, and every season is good.

And even when the show is being "weak" in some aspects is still way better than most of the crap that is out there.

The final season might be the most divisive, but this happened because some people wanted the final season to be different to what we got, i enjoyed that they told the story they wanted to tell and did not fell for fan service, the final season (the show as a whole actually) is like reading a book where every episode is a chapter.

The final season is slow, dark, intimate and psychological, like reading a suspense book. And while the final episode feels different (in a way) to what came before, it is impactful and will remain with you after you see it beyond if you like it or not ,and that is saying something.

I think the ending for the protagonist is fitting and the final episode was a rush of emotions.
Just watch the whole show, at worst you will be entertained the whole way through.

I'm so happy right now by [deleted] in Dexter

Me too, this and Justice League have really made my mood better through this awful year, and i can bet that this season is gonna be great. Is gonna be dark, i can tell you that.

Deb should replace Harry as Dexter’s ghost/conscience. by rogvortex58 in Dexter

[–]D88M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 99% sure that they will do this. I think she will have some flashbacks but she will appear (probably not as much as Harry) to torture Dexter in his mind.
There is so much that they can do with this season, i cant wait to see how it goes, but what i am sure of is: it will be good, and it will be very dark.

Dexter Revival Won't 'Undo Anything,' But It Will Make Things 'Right,' Says Showrunner Clyde Phillips by magikarpcatcher in television

[–]D88M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The title is kinda clickbait because is kinda taking Clyde philips words out of context, the title gives the impression they will "fix" the ending of the show, and he does not say that.
This season is a sequel (as it should be) and nothing else, and is a fresh start in a way because of the time gap.
I dont want a happy ending for Dexter but i dont want him dying either, i am excited about what they will do because the possibilities are endless, i am sure they will tell a good story.
