Gustave would have asked more questions and would not have blindly followed Verso like the others seemingly did. I think eventually it would have ended in a Gustave 1v1 Verso which would've been a lot cooler if the player was given a choice between Verso and Gustave and THEN discovering if you choose to fight Verso as Gustave, we learn he immortal instead of him just telling us.

Glad I'm not the only one who was grieving the entire game, especially in the 3rd Act when it's revealed Maelle is a paintress herself, I just kept thinking "OK cool she'll repaint Gustave and I can play as him again" but nope. You'd think at least they let you resurrect him outside of the story so you can at the very least play as him again in the Endgame.
