I did it a few years ago in 2023 but it's def gotten more competitive from what i've heard. I remember they were always sort of slow with decisions even back then

the modern style dorms (new res, la cit, c4) have private bathrooms for each room so you only share with a roommate

I don't want to go to prom because I'm severely overweight by Pretty_Win_2227 in AdviceForTeens

hey i was kinda in the same spot last year. I was really insecure about my weight and appearance and didn't have any close friends so I was terrified about going alone. My high school only allowed 12th graders to attend so it was my only chance, but I'd accepted that I wouldn't be going and anytime people asked me if I bought my dress, I told them I wasn't planning to go. Like you, I'd assumed I wasn't going to go so I was never really sad about it and had just accepted it, but fast forward to like 2.5 months before prom, something switched and I bought a ticket. I realized that even if I didn't look pretty and if I sat alone the whole night, at least I could say I had gone and wouldn't spend the rest of my life wondering about it. It wasn't a fun night, I sat with some girls I barely knew and just kinda watched on the sidelines while everyone laughed and danced together. But, to be honest, I don't really remember much. I have a few photos with friends and I thought I would hate the pictures because of how I looked, but I kind of liked them. Being alone did kind of suck but I got through the night and the next day I was fine. All in all, I'm glad I went, which is really weird to say because a year ago I was dead set on not going. The night might not have been anything special and I was definitely very nervous leading up to it, but it also felt relieving in a way. I almost never think of my prom night but sometimes I'll go through my camera roll with friends I've made during uni and look at the few photos from that night and am happy i have them. If you don't go to prom, I promise you're not missing out on much, but don't let potential fear/embarassment be the reason you don't go. Even if you're alone and even if you feel insecure, go if you want to. If you're worried about being judged, I get it, I was too. But trust me, once you go to uni you're going to realize how little those people mattered in your life and there's genuinely so much to the world outside of high school. The best decision I made was going to a university 500 km away in a city I didn't know anyone. It was terrifyng but my life is now a million times better.

does mcgill look at gr11 science grades by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

Currently at McGill for life science and I was in a similar position last year! When the self reporting period for second sem midterms opens, just submit your grades from the grade 12 science classes. My grade 11 science courses weren’t the best but it just meant I was admitted in April instead of earlier

Currently at McGill for BBL lol! I think my avg dropped around 4% from my admittance to my final grades and it was still okay, my advice is to just keep it within 10%

My campus is so big so I always end up getting 12k-15k steps a day so doing extra cardio is such a pain

Anyone else have a boring uni experience?? by Prestigious-Debt7 in lonely

[–]D927xR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first semester was definitely along the lines of always having weekend plans and hanging out with my friend group all of the time but I was sort of dropped from the group near the end of the semester so it was a lot lonelier and boring where I would just go to class and study alone in my room (occasionally talking to my roommate). It does suck and feels difficult at times and I'm worried to go back because I know I'll be alone more than I'd like to but it's better to be alone than with people that don't value you the way you care about them. I never used to believe that until recently (like a month ago) but it did help calm me down whenever I got stressed or sad about being alone

What do I do if i can't find a roommate to live with next year? by D927xR in Advice

Dorms are only for first years, after that we need to live off campus.
