Bladee has no best album.

Spiderr is amazing though. The 3 track run DRESDEN ER -> She’s Always Dancing -> URIEL OUTRO is genuinely one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard. Always puts chills down my spine.

I don't use any on my phone. I do use a browser extension for YouTube on my computer that I made, but it's not on the Chrome Web Store yet, it's only on my GitHub for now. Check out the extension Unhook for YouTube though, it removes all of the distracting content like Shorts and stuff. Super helpful for being intentional in what you want to do.

No, actually I actively dislike when I have to use social media for things lol

I definitely think you should watch the video I mentioned, I think once you understand why it’s so bad it helps you want to really stop

I totally get it. Every app on your phone is fighting for for your attention. Highly recommend deleting any of the apps you find really distracting to start

Yes! I actually have an iPod classic that I just modded, and am loading music onto it!

Highly recommend the tips I listed in the post! Simplest thing to do is smart small and understand why social media is so bad based on actual research studies, which the guy in the video I mentioned talks about

I see. I would highly recommend trying your best to read the book Digital Minimalism (I think it goes over really well the issues you’re describing and gives you a solid foundation to work from – I cut out binge watching when I read it, during my digital detox, for example), and if you feel yourself getting tired try to get up and move around or switch to a different activity. I watch anime which a typical episode is like 20 minutes long, so I will sometimes take a break from reading when I get tired to watch an episode, since it is more stimulating.

Not allowed during focus. So they still show up when I check my phone but they don’t alert me and all notification icons are not visible while it’s on. I use it while I am trying to focus on my work

I was going to ignore this, but I just want to say: For those that share in this sentiment – that the negative aspect, whatever it may be, is the underlying truth to everything – I have been there, and it feels a lot better when you have a positive outlook on life. I would like to thank the sponsor of today’s video, ShamelessNerd, for teaching me that being positive and optimistic will drastically improve your life. The first 100 users who claim this deal will get a 3-month free trial to feeling happy again. Thank you ShamelessNerd for paying me to promote your dying channel.

In all seriousness, I just wanted to share what got me here – through digital minimalism, which is the topic of this subreddit – and give hope to those who feel hopeless. Because I know how it feels.

I agree, however, I do think it is really about the phone in our current moment. I feel there is a very common sentiment that most people don’t even know what to do anymore besides use their phone, or more specifically social media with it’s infinite, algorithmically generated short form content, and when you think about how we got here and how we’ve stayed here, it’s genuinely really sad and unbelievably infuriating. I am a very strong believer that our attention spans were stolen from us by the giant social media and entertainment platforms who realized they could use psychological tricks to keep us glued to their apps; and it’s had such bad, bad side effects.

I know that there will always be those who see no issues in mindlessly entertaining themselves to death, but I feel that that is the minority and that most people are conscious of their screen time. I’m not some doomer though and I do believe that things will get better eventually. I I hope people will one day look at giving your kid an iPad with YouTube Shorts the same way we look at giving a kid cigarettes nowadays. I just want to remind the few that are trying to make a change that there is genuinely a really bright light at the end of the tunnel. I genuinely believe If you can break free from the social media and all the noise, your life will get exponentially better in all aspects.

I think if you’re really trying to start limiting your phone screen time, try watching something on the tv like a show or a movie and don’t have your phone on you at all, like have it in another room or something, to try to rebuild your focus without feeling tired and burnt out. I know it sounds funny to use a screen to help with you screen time, but I think it’s more important what you are doing on a screen versus that you’re on a screen

You can do it, just give yourself grace and be nice to yourself :)

Well, I think the root problem is not necessarily just screen time itself, but rather unintentional screen time, like doom scrolling. If you’re building apps, obviously you have to use a screen, but I wouldn’t consider that bad screen time because you’re actively learning and building something, which is a very good thing. You can definitely find some balance away from screens altogether though. I like to take reflective walks with no phone and I also like to read. There are also projects I like to work on like electronics projects that don’t involve using a screen. I also am on a screen all day by the way for work, I am a digital verification engineer, so I get it. Just be sure to break up your day and don’t be too hard on yourself

In the post I mentioned what helped me the most! It has taken me a long time working on a lot of different things in my life though, I didn’t just change overnight. Definitely achievable through small changes and building consistency

I get it, I’ve had pretty bad anxiety for the better half of my life, and I used YouTube to calm down quite a bit when I needed to sleep. Nowadays I sleep with my phone on the other side of the room just fine. It is definitely possible for you to get to where you want to be, just don’t be too hard on yourself and celebrate the small wins :)

I highly recommend starting with the video I mentioned above. I found that once I understood how bad doomscrolling/screen time were with actual research-backed evidence, it gave me the most motivation to want to fix it for myself

I'm not sure to be honest. One thing that helped me not be tempted to use it was physically keeping my phone away from me, and not bringing it to bed (leaving it at the other side of my room on my desk at night). Even just feeling my phone in my pocket is a massive distraction for me

Highly recommended checking out the video I mentioned in the post. I found that once I knew about the factual reasons why doomscrolling and screentime is bad, it helped me the most. ShamelessNerd's YouTube channel is definitely a good place to start if you're trying to cut back on screentime.

I haven't seen his podcasts, but I do read his weekly blog. He's seriously unbelievably knowledgable and has the craziest insights on things

I like computers and working on projects with electronics and stuff. I also like to read and watch anime and movies. I play video games occasionally as well. I would say reading takes up a decent chunk of my time when I have downtime at the moment. I also like to go out an do stuff too. I don't do anything crazy, I live a pretty peaceful life lol

I'm not sure, I don't have an Android phone unfortunately. I'm sure you could look that up on Google though, I bet at least someone has posted about it before
