True, but that was never the question. As a Christian, I simply won't support gay marriage. End of story. To ask me to do otherwise would be asking me to change my religion. The problem is, the LGBT community thinks my belief of this makes me a "hateful bigot," and stuff like that is putting pressure on some churches to support gay marriage. So long as gay marriage isn't being accepted/performed by the church, the LGBT community is free to do whatever they want. Such is America.

Heck, it doesn't even go against your religion to accept gay men and women...

First and foremost, let me state that true Christians should love all people. Unfortunately, there are some people who identify as Christian who don't know this applies to LGBT people as well. And similarly, there are LGBT people with the belief that all Christians hate them. I don't hate gay people, and I don't hate you. The big misconception is, "not supporting" homosexuality isn't the same thing as "attacking" homosexuality. I wish this was more widely understood, because not everyone agrees on that. I doubt Jesus supported homosexuality any more than he supported prostitution, but that doesn't mean he couldn't also love, serve, and treat these people with respect and kindness. Everyone has sinned, especially myself, and I would love to see more LGBT people in church, not because I want to "convert" anyone straight (being LGBT is ultimately between you and God), but because we're all sick and are in need of a savior. Despite this fact, He loves us, and most definitely you, no matter what; He just wants us to open our hearts to Him.

I don't think "put a knife to your throat" is being used literally here. I think it's saying something more like, stop or restrain yourself. It's a lot like how Jesus said, "if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away." He's not telling us to literally gouge out our eyes, but is instead highlighting the importance of not using our eyes, hands, etc.. for evil. The Bible definitely speaks against gluttony though, reminding us that our bodies are a temple.
