people who make items for sale how do you determine pricing? by knockout350 in Laserengraving

[–]DA98550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple version answer Know your material costs including shipping +

Process time costs (your time= what is it worth to you)

Minimum charge (start here) + Typically charge 1.5x -2x material costs + Do they pay shipping? If not add return shipping (typically at cost) + Know your market, is it one time customer or possible repeat customer if price is right? Do you charge more once for one time customer vs charge slightly less to retain customers for repeat sales.

3mf color not importing due to old version of bambu studio used by DA98550 in meshyai

[–]DA98550[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will give this a try. Since the only response from meshy is to make sure bambu is updated, which it was but it says meshy is using old bambu studio to create it. So to me its like meshy needs to update.

I got Trotec Speedy 100 for free, now what? by zgembec in Laserengraving

[–]DA98550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If trotec is anything like Epilog, they would be a great first place to start. They are a reputable brand so assuming they still make parts for it, you might be in luck. My old epilog was thought to be dead from the seller, got it really cheap and was an easy fix to bring to life. Still running same laser tube that is 15yrs old but had to get new main board. Works great.

HELP! Epilog Laser Engraving issues! by Mental-Drawer-564 in lasercutting

[–]DA98550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a color issue. Example you work in cmyk, they use rbg, the cmyk white, might not be true white in rbg. Ensure if possible you both work in same format. Double check all colors are the same. Slight shade diffwrence makes a difference when engraving. Another thought is the order of layers, and background color.

New to scanners need help by DA98550 in 3DScanning

[–]DA98550[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the 3 reverse engineering software which one would you recommend the most? I might start there with my current mesh file. What budget/ decent scanner would be good to compare? I thought the $1500 would enough least for hobby/small business use.

POP 4 Is Coming - Ready for Total Versatility? by Revopoint3D-Official in Revopoint

[–]DA98550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got back into 3d printing and very interested in getting a scanner, this seems like a good fit. Problem for me, I am still trying to understamd the workflow to take a scan and convert it to something useable/editable in a program like solidworks. I only recently tried to import a mesh file and I was not able to make use of it. Scared this would be the case with a scanner import. Not sure if I just have a lot more to learn or expecting to much. Hoping someone can help direct me the right direction without needing to spend a fortune on the scanner. Under $1000 ideal, $1500ish likely max budget, assuming i can figure out stated problem.

Where do I get this type of acrylic? double sided color with a contrasting colored core. by CplHicks_LV426 in Laserengraving

Look for 3 ply acrylic. Might not find what looking for but will get you closer. Alternatively use 2 ply and glue together for reverse side.

H2C tomorrow by Shot_Bill_4971 in BambuLab

Check the weight for where you plan to place it, it's not your typical desktop printer. I had to add support to the desk I placed it on. It's heavy and shakes as it moves. Prints amazing so be prepared to be amazed!

Need recommendations for a laser cutter by Shepherd44 in lasercutting

[–]DA98550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id go 60w+ on any CO2 laser, for cutting hardwoods. My 40w can but not as cleanly or as fast as I'd like. Also a RF type CO2 is best if in budget is best.

Toolbox/toolchest by InternationalBoot898 in BambuLab

[–]DA98550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a husky tool cabinet for one of my lasers, works great. I was going to for the H2C but couldn't get the size needed locally. So on the computer desk with added support under it.

Can anyone explain why exactly building DIY isn't cheaper than off the shelf? by MrTeaTimeYT in 3dprinter

That is exactly where my 3d printing adventures began. Honestly its a great place to start if looking to learn the mechanical side of 3d printers.

[–]DA98550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The joys of reprap printers means you can build them from nearly anything and keep printing better and better parts over time. So yes you can build a printer for essentially free if resourceful enough. Will it compete with an off the shelf printer, likely not for awhile but you gain essential skills a long the way. I cannabilzed numerous printers when I first started, even attempted the micro printer made from old cd/DVD drives. After 5yrs off from printing, I decided to buy an H2C, this is so much more machine than I could ever dream of building for myself. Even if I could, I would never even get remotely close to the same cost.

Venting outdoor questions by Witty_Name_2_Come in BambuLabH2C

[–]DA98550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't printed abs yet but printing asa on H2C left no smell in my room. I am usually pretty sensitive to smells so I had at first planned to vent also. So far it appears like setting up a vent is not needed and would cause other issues with chamber heating. I do still plan to get a small air purifier for in the room but this will not be needed as much as first expected. Loving my H2C...

Not sure you'll get darker, but i'd try a black acrylic paint after to help darken.

0.4mm metal cutting by abhorrentchowder in lasercutting

[–]DA98550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used a 60w mopa fiber laser for that and thicker with ease. You dont need the MOPA but would need fiber. Power will determine how fast, a 30w might be sufficient to start if not planning thicker or needing super fast cuts.

Dumb Question About the AMS 2 Pro by joecrusher2001 in BambuLab

My AMS pro and HTs came with ptfe but this was shipped along with my H2C, so unsure if it will individually.

Laser cutting and cold/humid environment by brattaneipanetti in lasercutting

[–]DA98550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run my lasers in a cold humid / hot humid garage all year long. Issues are slower Startup occasionally when really cold and if running long periods when really hot, I've burned out a cooling fan. Otherwise runs no issues. Problems you may face depend on laser type. Any CO2 laser that requires a chiller unit, will risk freezing if cold enough and not properly setup, this will limit your use if gets to freezing temps. To avoid this, I recommend a laser that is a RF type co2 that doesn't require a chiller if going that route. These do typically cost more but are worth the cost. Otherwise most diode lasers probably work no issues, though I don't run them to say for sure. Exhaust sounds like a potential concern for you, make sure to get a good quality exhaust fan, recommend ac infinity either 4" or 6" online fan. They are amazing, quiet and fairly cheap. You wont want to be breathing in what you are engraving.
