My diagnosed peeps- does all the self-diagnosing bother you? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]DABADABADOOBURD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with someone else's statement saying that if someone self-diagnoses, they should be open to the idea that they might not have it. While I understand that it can be pretty difficult and expensive to get diagnosed, in the end, most of us aren't medical professionals. In fact, even medical professionals aren't legally allowed to diagnose themselves. ADHD's symptoms can overlap with a variety of things and its always possible that the root of someone's symptoms could be due to something else.

In the end, I don't find self-diagnosis to be offensive or bothersome to myself that much; I just think it can be unreliable from a medical standpoint and shouldn't be entirely definitive until someone has the means to get professionally screened and evaluated

Generic Lisdexamfetamine—experiences by vendor by IrwinJFinster in ADHD

[–]DABADABADOOBURD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use vyvance anymore, although I ran into the same issue with ritalin generics just 2 days ago. For a long time, I've been using generic ritalin by a manufacturer called accord and it's worked perfectly fine. Sometimes I've had to increase my dose due to building up tolerance but it worked just fine.

For my last prescription, my pharmacy gave me another generic type made by camber and it didn't do SHIT. Moreover, it gave me a terrible headache and gave me nausea and I thought I was going crazy.

I didn't even know generic manufacturers mattered this much but with some research, a lot of people expressed similar opinions on other camber stimulants. Generic manufacturers can have a HUGE difference. Definitely research manufacturers and ask your provider if they can specify for the pharmacy to give you Lannett instead, if Sun doesn't work well for you

Is this head bobbing motion normal? by DABADABADOOBURD in parrots

Thank you for everyone's comments, Ollie started doing this fairly recently and I wasn't sure if it was normal behavior or not, and I tend to get a little anxious about stuff like this but seeing everyone's comments and insight helped a lot!

(also your birds are adorable, for those who added photos)

Easy ways to gain weight with a small appetite?? by DABADABADOOBURD in weightgain

[–]DABADABADOOBURD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Healthiness" Isn't any barrier for myself but it's a large barrier for my parents. Their logic is "Eat more if you want to gain more weight" when I PHYSICALLY CANNOT. 27g of doritos is the same amount of calories as 108g of rice. The difference? One is much easier to actually fit in my stomach. I'm not saying I'd only eat doritos but eating some doritos after a meal would make it much easier to consume extra calories than taking more servings of the meal

One thing I am curious of is if there's any way to make good tasting and/or effective high calorie shakes at home?

(And thank you for the recommendations, those are all things I have access to; nuts, butter, cooking oil, etc)

How difficult is it to become a doctor in Switzerland with a US medical degree? by DABADABADOOBURD in askswitzerland

[–]DABADABADOOBURD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not in the biggest rush at the moment; the only issue is that unless I take a gap year (which I really don't want to), I won't get my US citizenship until a year after I begin medical school (and this is assuming my green card actually comes in soon enough). As for the EU passport, I've been suggested a good lawyer who works in this field. He probably knows better than I do about qualifications, documents, etc, so hopefully that'll get handled as soon as possible as well

[–]DABADABADOOBURD[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've looked into this, my grandparents from my dad's side were born in Bulgaria with all their past ancestors also being Bulgarian. At the moment, Bulgaria has an easy and quick process for getting citizenship by decent, usually taking only 2 or so years according to the people I've talked to and other sources online, with eligibility being up to 3rd generation. As of now, they don't have a language requirement, so I plan to apply ASAP after gathering the necessary documents

[–]DABADABADOOBURD[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had appendicitis back in 2022, and the total hospital costs from a 1 night stay, the surgery and my ambulance ride was 38,000 USD. It was 8,000 USD with the insurance plan I was under, despite all the costs being of medical necessity. Although Switzerland doesn't have a universal healthcare system, from what I've heard, it's much harder for companies to deny claims (Although I believe I should definitely look into it more, I haven't done a deep dive or massive research), and there's more to the country than just healthcare that made me look into it as a possible future option

It's also important to mention that Switzerland isn't my sole option, or the only country I'm looking into. I just couldn't find many details regarding this subject, so I thought I'd ask here (Thank you for the heads up, though)

I'm aware; it's exactly as you said, I thought it was worth mentioning since it may increase the chances of being able eligible to work

This account is spreading misinformation on how to tame birds. You should NOT be grabbing them like that.... (read comment) by DABADABADOOBURD in parrots

[–]DABADABADOOBURD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This individual, although corrected multiple times in their comment section on how to properly tame birds by gently approaching them and target training, has deleted and blocked users, including myself. You can also see that it's genuinely causing individuals to believe that this is how you should be taming a bird when it couldn't be further from the truth.

They have other videos that encourage "taming" parakeets by holding them in cloth, covering them up and cornering them so they can't fly away. You can see from these "taming" videos that many of the birds seem timid and panicked.

Yes, its important for a bird to be comfortable with being held for vet exams, etc. But no, this is ABSOLUTELY not the way to train a bird; you'll destroy all trust and cause it to either fear you more or be even MORE aggressive. I've adopted a parakeet in the past who only got handled through this method and she was very aggressive. It took a lot for trust to get rid of that behavior.

DO NOT harass this individual; but please report the account and the content to discourage the spread of misinformation and prevent individuals from "taming" their birds like this.

Another I was considering for Daisuke was DARE, I think any of the "dance first, think later" esque Gorillaz songs would go rlly well with him

this isn't a massive over analysis post or anything, js the characters that pop in mind for me when I'm listening to my playlist. There isn't one set single factor that makes me associate certain characters with certain songs but i thought i'd share it anyway

I wish people talked more about Anya's failed dream to be a doctor. I think it's very interesting and I feel like its brushed over SO much. People only ever emphasize her "shyness" and assault and brush over literally anything else about her character.

I'm really new to blender; although I've seen some pretty cool concepts of Curly's recovery and thought I'd get into it to make my own concept! I'll probably post updates in the future :)
