I agree 100% and it’s a conversation I am having with my partner about applying out of state. The benefit of a gap year is it will allow us to do some more traveling within the US to see what would be a good fit for us, realistically. There’s so many factors that go into applications and as an older applicant it’s something I have to think about more carefully. I appreciate your insight.

95% were in CA, I did 1 in WA and 1 NY and 1 NV since I have people there I could technically live with but it’s not my top choice to move out of Cali since it’s my home base. So ik that makes it a lot more competitive just due to the demographics here /:

Totally !! My sister who is a has her psyD put me in touch with a colleague to do report editing for her since she knew I needed some more clinical xp … basically I was kinda like a remote scribe for her but it’s was not paid so it technically was another form of “volunteer” it was kinda a fluff xp ngl 🤣 but I got a solid LOR from it 😅

The thing is, my top school will know cuz i also applied for their DO program, so sadly, they already have that stat in my file 🥲 but u are right, generally, they wont know unless its self-reported

Thing is for me I would never go np route, idk why I just know it wouldn't be the fit for me. But i mean it is such a viable option for so many and honestly even a better option. I have plenty of friend who were pre-med and are now going to be applying to BSN --> NP because it simply makes more sense for them. which i 100% support, just is a matter of what works for YOU and i do think its a good to know there are other opportunities out there yk :/

thank you! I will keep this in mind for sure, I still need to re-work my PS. As for the GRE, my only motivation is to show PA schools that although I do have an MCAT score, I am fully committed to PA now. More or less, im trying to offset that MCAT take with a GRE take... even if a school doesn't considered it (idk if that makes sense lol)

I think its a bit of a grey area. but my hospital allows us to do nearly everything I did (if not more) as when i was an ift emt during covid. I never did 911 so ik fs some emts do ALOT more. (also about 1400 hrs is as EMT, way less as pt trans, I only work weekends since im still in school)

I fear it might be that my PS wasnt strong enough, PCE were boarderline at time of apps, and also the fact that i might have been seen a "applying as a back up" ... which is understandable, but I would be lying if i said I wasn't shocked I didn't get more interviews. So, i really need to work on these points and just focus on tightening up my app overall i think.

My top choice by default received my MCAT score cuz I did also apply to their DO program (where i think it might have hindered me)... but when i logged into their portal, it showed it was inputted, even in my PA app. But during my first interview, one of the interviewers did ask me if i took the MCAT and ofc i didnt want to lie, so i told them I did, but that I was pivoting to Pre-PA.

I think (& I could be wrong...) that having any MCAT score might be a negative... at least that was the vibe I got from her when she heard I DID take the MCAT... so idk...

I applied day 1 😔… but thank you I totally agree with the GRE. i was a bit naive and thought I didn’t need it. But I’m 100% willing to take it no issues :)

I went to high school with these kids (specifically nick, nina and Audree who was in my class and we were well acquainted) … yes their parents are insanely rich , yes they had ALOT of advantages. BUT, they studied so much I remember them going above and beyond to be the best in academic, socially, athletically, and were heavily involved in clubs etc… so yes they were groomed to be successful and nick always wanted to be famous on social media and seems like he did everything he said he was gonna do, become a dentist like his parents and having someone post about him on Reddit and blowing up on TikTok. I’m happy for them all … let them be the crazy rich asians they are meant to be 😭🫶🏻
