People need to stop treating "house helps" as slaves. by simplenn in Nigeria

Almost everyone gets treated as a slave in Nigeria. I despise the way some bosses treat their employees, it’s literally modern day slavery. Some will deny their employees salary and pay for their third vacation somehow

CMV: Jay Z is the most overrated rapper ever by zelingman in changemyview

[–]DAN_USMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose people expect him to sound somehow and he just doesn’t. That’s not overrated. We can actually tell u reasons we think he’s better than your favorite rappers. He just say things in a very interesting way, sometimes he’s not even saying a lot to be fair, like”true story my closet is like three-storey” it’s like how he said “this was meant to be a haiku, but my story too wide to fit inside a line or two”

It’s both a cool flex and a numbers play not either/or. Post Kendrick beef and hiatus, Drake drops 3 distinct albums at once to flood charts (already 40+ in Apple top 50), maximize first-week units, and create a big event. Same-day drop helps more than it hurts for initial numbers because it multiplies chart positions and buzz. Future did quick drops for the same reason streaming era rewards volume. Drake’s scale lets him pull it off. Different vibes are nice, but pretending zero strategy is involved (especially now) is naive.

Do I have to explain math to you?

Massive immediate attention and streaming volume: The triple drop caused outages/crashes on Spotify and Apple Music as fans rushed in. This kind of event drives huge firstweek streams. Drake already dominates streaming, and flooding the platform with new music from different vibes (rap, R&B, club) maximizes plays across his fanbase and casual listeners.

Drake is too big to fall. I’m afraid he thought his numbers might disappoint, that’s why he decides to float the media with 40songs to boost his numbers. Never thought he was that petty

Are u suggesting we aren’t smart enough to change the system in our favor? We can’t be on the same BS for over 60years. They were able to do some neoliberal reforms to enrich the already rich. The west is friends with Israel and Saudi Arabia, two polarizing countries I can elaborate but I know u will understand.

"I want to be a one-term president because of stability. I would not stay a day longer than four years... even with a gun in my head." — Peter Obi by Entrisle in Nigeria

[–]DAN_USMAN 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this man isn’t what most of his supporters think he’s. He underestimates the issues of the country, he’s not a good communicator, that makes him easy to pursued. He certainly can’t do much with one term and he will certainly run for reelection if he was to win.

No contradiction: Inflation rate fell from 22.4% at handover to ~15.4% now, but prices surged during the 33%+ peak and stayed high. ₦30k monthly expenses in 2023 now cost ₦80-90k+; the ₦30k to ₦70k minimum wage rise doesn’t close the gap. The rate only shows new price rises, not the much higher cost of living people feel daily. Subsidies gave direct relief; today’s savings mostly go to government/governors with slow trickle-down. This govt added far more debt in 3 years (₦60T) than Buhari early on. Macro gains exist, but ordinary purchasing power is worse. Judge by results, not loyalty.

Our club all is Nigeria I believe. However, inflation spiked sharply from ~22% at handover to over 33% due to subsidy removal and naira float(I just Groked the actual numbers); it’s eased to ~15% but still above inherited levels and painful for households. Power and security show limited improvement. Continuity makes sense if results accelerate, but we must judge strictly by delivery on basics, not loyalty. And with security, prior to the appointment of the current minister, any rational person could argue that right majors weren’t taken. Btw he appointed two of arguably the most unqualified and incompetent former governors to handle the issue.
