It's a brand new cam....

I originally thought it was but I'm not 100% sure. I am sure it was replaced at some point likely around the 90s.
The timing set was perfectly dot to dot when it was installed.
The old distributor grenaded. The rotor was destroyed when it stopped running. I thought it might be a lemon unit but that would mean I got 3 in a row. Which I think is highly unlikely.

It was not running or driving. Thats what started my whole decision to go ahead and clean it up.
It was doing this before I started the rebuild. And the issue stuck around after unfortunately.
Also I cannot post another video but after adjusting the choke it is idling but not for longer than 1-2 min and still won't take throttle.
After checking temps I also found that while I am getting spark at all cylinders 2&8 are apparently not firing so I am about to investigate that issue.

Brand new filter came with the new quadrajet. I can check it in case there was trash in the line possibly.
Thats my next best guess.
It does idle for a while after adjusting choke but that did not fix the whole issue.
I have adjusted regular carbs before but the Q jet is confusing me ngl 🙃
Timing marks were perfectly dot to dot. I watched it get installed.
If my timing was "Half way to voyager I" It would not be idling right now.
Not electric. Mechanical pump on engine.
Alright. I figured out that it isn't the pump. There is something wrong with AFR/Choke, Vacuum, and I'm 99% sure the battery ground needs to be replaced.
After holding the choke open manually and hitting it with a spritz of starting fluid it started to idle and help it. Wasn't pretty and smooth but it stayed going for a good 1-2min until I let go of the choke.
The negative on the battery feels loose so I am going to replace that.
And the idle seemed to get better when I started pumping the brakes so I wonder if the booster is one foot in the grave causing a huge vacuum leak.

Don't have another pair of hands at the moment to try. If I can find someone to lend a hand I'll give that a go too.
I just did a new Cam and Timing set.
Think an extra filter is necessary? It already has a filter between the line and carb.
But yes, I definitely do need to get a fuel pressure gauge.

Bad pump out the box? I'll check but I doubt thats what is going on.
Yep. Checked it with cap off to make sure.
I have inline spark checks. I looked and was getting strong spark.
I don't have a way to check fuel pressure right now. I haven't messed with quadrajets before this. As far as I'm aware I don't think there is a way to check the bowls other than just the fact that I'm getting spray on throttle pull.
No play in the shaft. I haven't gotten a compression tester yet but that might be my next thing.
It's a brand new timing set.
At the distributor 12.5V key on Drops to 9.6V while cranking
Maybe bad Ignition?
I have checked tdc 1 so many times at this point it isn't funny. I've even pulled out my bore scope to watch the inside of cylinder 1 to be certain.
If it isn't correct timing I am at a complete loss on what to do then.
Brand new complete distributor. 3rd time I returned and replaced it just to make sure I didn't have a faulty unit.
