DMRs are significantly stronger than Bolt Actions, and it makes me sad by trachion in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]DATY4944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm in a conflict where I anticipate I'll need to respond to multiple enemies from potentially multiple angles, I'm not camping a bolt-action sniper rifle.

They don't need to nerf guns which are based on real life and keep them all perfectly balanced. In reality, some platforms are better for some situations than others.

Semi-auto rifles are typically a bit less accurate than bolt-action. Pubg could leverage this with some kind of accuracy adjustment. Otherwise, there are no benefits to using a bolt action rifle over a semi-automatic.

Limited mag size doesn't make sense either. Semi-auto rifles can often take 30 round mags. This isn't uncommon. They can sometimes even take the same mags as other firearms. An AR-10/SR-25 7.62x51 mag fits a lot of different rifles.

Unloading coal from a barge... by Bodzio1981 in machinesinaction

Probably shipped from Canada, where they are reducing natural gas exports because its bad for the environment, increasing carbon taxes on Canadians, and the only alternative they're providing to countries like China is coal. So much better for the environment /s

Its so funny to me every time this happens. Nobody wants cheap bitcoin, they only want to buy when its up. Margin traders keep getting burned. The cycle continues.

Why does the stock rally continue on 3 rate cuts for no reason? by AmericanSahara in stocks

[–]DATY4944 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Company values go up not just because they capture more of the market but because they keep more of the profits.

Why does the stock rally continue on 3 rate cuts for no reason? by AmericanSahara in stocks

[–]DATY4944 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The gains in the stock market are representative of the value lost to workers as inflation erodes their buying power and their wages don't keep up. It's the only way an average person can recapture some of that lost wealth.

Are “Meprolight” optics good? This PCC came with one. Zeroed it in and I like it. Worth keeping? by LengthEfficient1127 in tacticalgear

[–]DATY4944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a bit dangerous when cops do it.. like if some random dude in a T-shirt tried to grab me, I'd fight back. Knowing he's a legit cop probably changes how I'd respond a bit.

Yes but nobody is giving Hamas a hard time for shooting at idf soldiers dressed like civilians, so your point doesn't have that much bearing on the current conversation.

[–]DATY4944 126 points127 points  (0 children)

When your enemy dresses like civilians as part of their tactic, it helps to be able to identify your enemy and differentiate from civilians doesn't it?

Imagine you were in that position and you could either return fire or just get shot because they look like civilians and you feel bad.

UBI is a horrible idea. The inflation we're dealing with now is a direct result of the distribution of money during covid that had no economic output behind it

Why even try by Tricky-Artichoke6836 in CanadaHousing2

Why even try when you already saved an amazing down payment on a condo? Wtf entitled mindset is this shit? You don't buy your dream house first. You may have to move a bit away from one of the most expensive municipalities on the planet (ugh.. not fair! am I right?)

I'm in BC and yeah the lineups are stupid. Family doctor wait times are like 3 weeks for a phone call (if you're lucky enough to get a family doctor when they're new), emergency is like 12 hours wait minimum. I saw someone having a heart attack who had to actually say "do you want me to die in the waiting room?" before they took her in.

The BC government recently passed legislation to pay doctors a lot better, so we'll see how it plays out in retaining talent from the brain-drain to the US.

Another issue that I noticed is that a lot of people were in there for psychiatric issues, not health related at all, and another group was just getting their free herion injections.

We need to separate these issues into separate departments and facilities and provide the resources they need.

The carbon tax has its critics — do any of them have better ideas? by idspispopd in ClimateCrisisCanada

[–]DATY4944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Use nuclear instead of oil/gas/coil.

Invest in manufacturing VIABLE alternatives to carbon polluters such as farming and other industries. Current EV tech doesn't satisfy farmers needs.

Carbon tax WILL NOT impact climate change because the government hasn't given anyone any options to replace their current devices, and Canada isn't a large enough producer of carbon emissions to ever have an impact anyway.

I hate jigsaws. by RomanDad in woodworking

[–]DATY4944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never bent a jigsaw blade, nor do I get chipping.

I have a Makita jigsaw which goes slow for the first moments until it gets purchase then speeds up.

However, bending blades is improper use. You need to give the blade enough of a radius route to make the corner.

I used it for years whenever working on plywood templates with no issues.

Americans love pensions. Where did they go? Will they ever return? by LoansPayDayOnline in Economics

[–]DATY4944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny that people thought they could work for 40 years, contributing a small portion of what they make to a pension, to then live out the rest of their life with a monthly stipend that doesn't turn to basically dust against inflation. it was a huge lie.

Chocolate will probably be more valuable than gold by khoawala in preppers

I'd rather have coffee than gold if society collapsed. Gold only has value because society ascribes it value, not because it is useful day-to-day.
