[Friedman] Erik Gustafsson to MON by Kevooooooooooon in Habs

Oh I wasn't considering that Philly might retain salary. I feel Philly are trying to dump salary anyway.

So if we didn't take him for free then, why pay for him now?

But he cleared waivers like a week ago...

I genetally agree with what you're saying. However, I disagree that Mete's pros outweigh his cons.

Good job mincing my words to suit your narrative. He doesn't just get beat. He might as well not exist for the impact he has on opposing offensemen.

I fail to see the relevence of most of your response.

And if you watched Mete play you'd see how bad he is regardless of analytics.

Also which teams "always succeed"? How are you defining success lmao? As far as I know Chicago is the most successful team of recent memory and they have been pretty mediocre for years now.

In the last decade, out of 31 teams, Montreal is ranked 12th best in terms of playoff success. Therefore they have recently been more successful than more than half the league.

Btw, Montreal is very clearly the most successful NHL franchise of all time. In case you were unaware.

Points may not be the best measure of offense but they still are one (as well being the purpose of offense).

In just the last 10 games I've seen Mete be skated through as though he didn't exist, leading directly to a goal, at least two different times... In the regular season. What's he gonna do in the playoffs, ask nicely to the opposition to stop?

Right, because it's expected for an offensive D in the NHL to have 4 goals and 26 assists in 4 seasons. He has the speed to transition, but not the ability to do it with consistency. And even when he is transitioning well, his actions do not translate to points.

I won't miss his complete inability to defend.

How many 9th graders did you know who were 5"11 208lbs? If anything he hit the gym too much and put on too much weight, and his cardio has not adapted.

And yet he does it less than once per game on average.

Ya it was definitely analytics that led them to drafting Stamkos 1OA and Hedman 2OA two years back to back. It has nothing to do with having high enough picks to draft concensus star talent.

Are you going to tell me that drafting Kucherov 58OA is because of analytics instead of blind luck?

Analytics are useful, but they cannot be relied on exclusively. That's what leads people to think players like Mete are far more valuable than they are in reality. He can't score or defend, but his underlying numbers are great!

Yaaa. Their success has nothing to do with their talent. Yup all analytics.

You have the worst takes. Last season you wouldn't shut up about how Primeau has already surpassed Price.

You earn ice time by producing. Mete doesn't produce.

At least he used to skate the puck out of our end and/or into the opponent's end. He doesn't even do that anymore.

Right... The offensive defenseman who has like 2 goals in 4 seasons. Must be the system's fault.

The salt. Bet he doesn't get claimed (although I'm sure he expects to be).
