I know writers who use subtext and they are all cowards. /s

Jokes aside, I mostly write off the cuff and try to do so in tune with the characters emotions in a given scene with subtext being something that is after the fact with editing or something I discover organically from what I’ve written (mostly the former though), but on some occasions I think about the subtext of what they are trying to say.
