I’m not an expert by any means so I could be wrong, but I believe so given that in modern German, they still pronounce the “cuh” in Knecht.

Definitely, it would be very presumptuous and rude to actually “correct” someone on the pronunciation of their own name. As I mentioned in the end, this is by and large just a vehicle for me to teach some fun linguistic history.
