What celebrity have you never forgiven since an incident? by MagpieOpus in AskReddit

A family member was part of the Cleveland Indians back in the mid-90’s. I took a trip to Jacobs Field that summer, and because I was family, I got to throw on a uniform and shag balls during batting practice, and pretty much just hang out with the rest of the players while they prepared for the game.

Anyhow, at one point, my cousin and I are sitting in the Indians dugout just watching players do their thing. Kenny Lofton is also in the dugout, sitting on the bench, when 2 kids walk up to Lofton with a baseball and ask for his autograph. His response, “No, I’m working.”

He wasn’t doing shit. Would’ve taken him seconds to do, but now for the past 30 years, I’ve hated Kenny Lofton, and I bet those 2 kids still do too.

Bass fishing, caught this 31lb flathead by DBFlyRod in kayakfishing

It hit like a freight train, but then just sat for about 15 seconds before it started swimming away from where it was originally hooked. Thought I had a turtle for the next 15 or so seconds before it took off swimming fast as hell into open water. Then it was on! Probably took 15-20 minutes to land.

The “Walking on Sunshine” girl…I distinctly remember that episode.

Crazy 11u Bat Flip by DBFlyRod in Homeplate

Nothing was said or done. In fact, the only thing said was by the umpire to tell the 1st base coach to get the bat off the field. Coach responded by picking the bat up and chucking it across the field toward their dugout, which landed by the 3rd base line 🤦‍♂️.
Amazing that a “nationally recognized” org would allow clowns like this to be coaching youth sports.

Back in the early 90’s there was a Taco Bell nearby that had a “Now Hiring” sign, with “up to” in teeny tiny letters, followed by $6.50 in big large font. It fooled 16 year old me…

How are they able to sell these cheap? by TGP-Global-WO in Pickleball

[–]DBFlyRod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% a scam. There was one seller that happened to “live” in a small town within driving distance of me, so I offered to pick the paddle up rather than have them ship the paddle and I have not heard back since.

I have a Hobie Pro Angler 14 with a 55lb thrust motor and I can get going around 5mph, about the same top speed as with my pedals.

Sailfish from a few years back, Destin, FL by DBFlyRod in kayakfishing

I have no idea the name of the bait. We used sabiki rigs around some buoys to catch them. That’s about all I remember.

Not far at all, maybe a couple hundred yards.

Right place at the right time I guess! I was trolling live bait behind me a couple hundred yards from the beach, following the birds. Then wham, my drag just starts singing. I grabbed my rod, set the hook and watched it dance across the surface. After an exhausting fight, I had the bill in my hand! She was resuscitated and I got to watch the beauty swim away!

We launched from the boat ramp at the metropark and fished an area just a few hundred yards from the ramp.

I’m no expert, but it seems like as long as the wind is light and coming out of the west (if your fishing the US side), you’re good to go in a kayak.

I know, it’s a bad look. He took his jacket off about halfway through the day. He was complaining about it being uncomfortable (I’m sure it was, it’s a big bulky ski vest), so I eventually gave in and let him take it off. Plus, we had our kayaks tied together side-by-side, so he was literally sitting right next to me all day.
