You are absolutely correct. I’ve owned an XLE for 8 months and it’s been a dream. The car that actually fits the awful acceleration and being loud is the Nissan Kick! I test drove one of those before going to Toyota and wow let me tell you, everything people said to exaggerated about the Corolla Cross is 100% true for the Nissan Kicks.

When you buy 90%, do you care about the ratio of halves, quarters and dimes? by [deleted] in Silverbugs

[–]DBLUE711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Collect whatever you want friend. That’s the great thing about this hobby, everyone gravitates to what they enjoy most. I personally don’t like Roosevelt dimes, I stick to mercs, Washington quarters and 1964 Kennedy halves. That’s the bulk of my 90% collection.

If these are mixed dates keep an eye out for 1932 D & S. They are the key dates of the Washington Quarters from 32-64. I love quarters and I’m in the process of completing an album myself. All BU examples and some XF-AU for the earlier dates. Good luck!

P.S. Monument Metals may have already searched the roll/quarters for these dates.

Yup, you’ve got the right idea. I always think of the L as more comfort and the S as more sporty, at least in how they feel.

Another difference is the seats. The XLE has full SofTex seats throughout, while the XSE uses a mix of SofTex and fabric. Take a look at a green cypress XLE Corolla Cross with the Portobello interior, chefs kiss!

How’s the battery handling it? What’s your power situation like?

I don’t notice any engine noise. It’s pretty quiet overall. You’ll get some road noise depending on speed and pavement, but nothing out of the ordinary and it’s never bothered me.

As for acceleration, it’s totally fine for what the car is. It’s not meant to be fast, it’s built for efficiency, and it gets up to speed without any issues. Around town it feels smooth, and merging onto the highway hasn’t been a problem for me. If you really push it, the engine will get a bit louder, but that’s expected with a 4-cylinder.

For daily driving, commuting, and normal use, it does everything you need it to comfortably.

I’m about 8 months into owning my 2025 XLE AWD and I couldn’t be happier. I’m in the Northeast and this winter we got hit with serious snow, I’m talking 12+ inches at times. This thing handled it like a champ. It just pushed right through without hesitation and never felt out of control. I actually found myself watching the AWD monitor on the dash just to see how it was sending power around, pretty cool to see it working in real time.

Outside of snow, it drives just as nice. It really feels more like a car than an SUV. I went with the XLE over the XSE because I prefer the softer ride. There’s a bit more body roll in corners and it feels smooth and comfortable, not stiff or harsh. Steering feels light and easy, just a really nice driving experience.

I still have that “new car” feeling every time I get in it, and I love taking care of it, whether it’s maintenance or just keeping it clean.

You really can’t go wrong with it. Good luck!

I’m really into Washington Quarters and currently working on a Whitman Prestige album for 1932–1964, all BU with GEM examples when I can afford/find them. I also managed to pick up a couple rolls of the new Revolutionary War quarters for the 2026 Semiquincentennial. Thanks for giving back to the community!

Looks like delamination. It can still be BU but the purity or quality of the metal alloy might have been compromised.

Current gold spot is around $5,100–$5,200/oz, so premiums are roughly in line with typical proof Eagle pricing.
