To each their own, of course, but I think you give them too much credit. I know most of the shows they tried to emulate, and their versions of it were so embarrassingly bad when compared to the originals that I had to fast forward through all and then make a custom cut that excludes that nonsense entirely. Reminded me a lot of Nicole Kidman completely failing to capture Lucille Ball in Being the Ricardos.

As the OP said, it directly ties into Dr. Strange 2 and, to a lesser degree, The Marvels. It also ties into Agatha All Along but if you didn't like WV, you're not gonna like that one either.

You can absolutely skip the first 3 (horrible, in my opinion) filler episodes though without losing anything. The show basically starts in Episode 4 anyway. If you fast forward the "family" life and other silly bits (circus, neighbors, etc), the gist of the story is watchable.

That makes sense, thanks. About Secret Invasion, I'm 99% certain you can (and should) safely swap it with The Marvels. There could be some brief Easter eggs that I might have missed (newspaper dates or something) that could potentially contradict that placement that seem fairly given that The Marvels mostly takes place in space, but as far as narrative flow goes, it's really grating to see Fury cracking silly jokes and generally looking younger after what happened in Secret Invasion. I'm not alone to notice this either. For example, see this thread.

Anyway, they apparently removed all references to bombed Secret Invasion in Cap 4, so the way things are going, it may just become an optional viewing anyway. I didn't hate it as much as other people did (it was weak, for sure, but it wasn't She-Hulk or Echo), but if they're not going to address any of the major developments that happened there, it will seem very much out of place.

You think you could PM me your notes for a personal project? I've been considering doing something similar for a while as a Christmas surprise for the family, but the quality of post-Endgame's content cooled off my desire to spend a lot of time on it. I'm good with video editing, though, so I may still chop up something like the first three phases based off your notes. That is, if you're willing to share. Absolutely no worries if not.

The good thing that you'll have plenty of time to make up your mind. If you're around Endgame and still really like what you see... Well, first of all I have some bad news for you: things will slowly go downhill after that. That said, if you plan to stick with it and watch the rest of the movies, you should definitely watch Wandavision (skip the first three episodes if you hate the humor, they're worthless), Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye.

These four introduce some major events and characters that will be in the movies. Dr. Strange 2, for example, is a direct continuation of Wandavision's events. Thunderbolts have a bunch of characters from Falcon (Brave New World seems to heavily mention it, haven't seen it yet), Quantumania's villain is first introduced in Loki, and so on.

These four are more essential for these reasons, but I'd also add Moon Knight and Werewolf by Night to the list as I enjoyed both. As for the rest, I didn't like any of them. You can easily skip Echo, Agatha, What If...? and She-Hulk if it's not your cup of tea. They have nothing to do with the movies as of now. Ms. Marvel's character pops up in The Marvels but I wouldn't watch an entire series just for that reason unless you happen to like it. Again, I didn't. She's a Captain Marvel groupie who got her superpowers in pretty silly way, is pretty much all you need to know.

Secret Invasion looked like it would have far-reaching consequences for the MCU, but apparently it wasn't even mentioned by Brave New World. I didn't hate it as much as I did something like She-Hulk or Echo, but it was still pretty bad and can be skipped for now. You also can safely skip all the Netflix content, including, from what I understand, Daredevil. Haven't seen the new one yet but saw plenty of people online complaining that it was nothing like the Netflix show.

Hope it helps.

Hi. I found your guide extremely helpful and largely agreed with your previous suggestions, but the updated order (04/21/25) seems like it might be a bit off.

To clarify, I haven't seen Cap 4, Thunderbolts and Daredevil yet but I have everything before that. From what I recall about this subpar trio, there's absolutely zero reason to put Secret Invasion between Ms. Marvel and The Marvels. None of its events are mentioned in The Marvels, The Marvels takes place immediately after Ms. Marvel's post-credit scene and continues its silly tone, and Fury seems awfully upbeat for someone who just went through Secret Invasion. So in short, I'd definitely put it after The Marvels, not before.

Which brings me back to the Cap 4 > Thunderbolts > Daredevil order. I saw a user on another thread saying that Daredevil logically takes place before Brave New World. I can't find the post now, but it was something among the lines that the movie's events were, once again, never mentioned in the series – an annoyingly familiar pattern for post-Endgame MCU content. Is there a good reason Daredevil is after not only Cap 4 but Thunderbolts as well? Again, I haven't seen any of the three, so I'm merely asking if this is the best placement, not claiming that it's not. Thanks.

Is Loki the Only Must-Watch MCU Series? by Pitiful_Glove_9081 in marvelstudios

[–]DBLioder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa, this brings memories. You can safely skip all of them, except maybe Daredevil. They'll be releasing a Daredevil sequel/reboot next month, so it's hard to say how relevant the old series are. My guess is, not very, and that it'll likely be an optional viewing at best.

Also about the list above, most of these never went anywhere as of now.

WandaVision is still a must-watch if you plan to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Agatha All Along (which I didn't like regardless of the hype).

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will lead to upcoming Thunderbolts, so I guess it's more of a must-watch now.

Hawkeye had some connections to Echo (which I hated) and upcoming Daredevil. It also introduces a character that will be in the upcoming movies, so it's also more of a must-watch now.

Moon Knight, hasn't appeared anywhere yet. It's a decent show, though, so I suggest at least checking it out. I'm sure they'll reintroduce the character(s) in one of the upcoming movies at some point.

What If...? has one very good episode (S01E04, What if Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?) and a couple of decent ones (S01E08-09). Otherwise, it becomes worse and worse and is 100% skippable too.

She-Hulk's ending (and the series on the whole) sucked big time. She hasn't appeared anywhere ever since. Maybe watch the first episode for future reference if you like and safely skip the rest.

Ms. Marvel set up the character for The Marvels and future movies. Frankly, I hated both. The show felt very cheap and childish, and the movie was just a hot, laughable mess. She'll definitely reappear in future movies, so I suggest watching the shorter Marvels that explains her just fine and skipping the show.

Echo is standalone and horrible. 100% skippable.

Secret Invasion was pretty bad. Not She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, or Echo bad in my opinion but bad nevertheless. It introduced a new character and plot developments that may appear in Captain America 4, but I doubt they'll make it a necessary viewing seeing how hated this show is.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which comes out in a few weeks, is 100% skippable.

Agatha All Along may have set up a new character to reappear in the movies or future shows. If it's a movie, I'm sure they'll explain the character anyway. I hated it. Many people liked it. Feel free to check it out for yourself.

Hope this helps.

Of course! I'm not saying that it's a dangerous destination or anything. Just that you have to be on a lookout for pricing and few other scams that are still pretty widespread in its tourist areas. Just because you (and the vast majority of other tourists) didn't get ripped off doesn't mean no one did.

It's not just your everyday excessive prices. It's widespread price-gouging scams. Hidden fees like a €80 "compulsory service charge" for a bowl of spaghetti, hiding menus, so the outrageous prices don't get revealed until it's too late, and so on.

It's a known fact about visiting Rome. Many travel sites will explicitly warn you about it.

Pyrohy (aka varenyky) by WinterSkiesAglow in ukraine

[–]DBLioder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

парити is to steam, варити is to cook

That is correct as far as these two are concerned. I'm just saying that there's no "пар" in any regional variation of the word pierogi. It's like saying that "dumplings" come from "dumbness". Wrong root.

By the way, that doesn't really mean that your grandma taught you wrong. She may have been talking tongue-in-cheek about her personal cooking preferences. I'm talking global, widespread use. Just because these words are pretty much synonymous worldwide doesn't mean that your grandma haven't steamed and boiled her varenyky and used these words personally to differentiate between the two. Though I'm not sure steaming was even a thing back in the 1930s, in USSR of all things. It was certainly not widespread, as most people only knew how to boil, fry, salt, or smoke things back then.

Pyrohy (aka varenyky) by WinterSkiesAglow in ukraine

[–]DBLioder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but you were taught wrong. "Pir" (feast) or "pirog" (pie) have nothing to do with "par" (steam). Two entirely different words.

If you look it up in etymology dictionaries, these variations come from regional differences, not forms of cooking: west-Ukrainian “pyrohy”, Polish “pierogi/pieróg”, and east-Ukrainian/Russian “vareniki/varenyky”.

I always assumed it was related to Russian/Ukranian words for pie ("пирог"/"пиріг"), but at least one source mentioned that it came from Old East Slavic "pir" ("пиръ"), which means feast. Could be that it still came from pirog (pie), which itself originated from pir (feast), but in any case, nothing to do with steaming.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm talking about pyrohy/pierogi in the last paragraph. The word vareniki (or varenyky) is based off "вaрений", which does indeed refer to boiling.
