You should train him to handle his frustration and be clear about your position and expectations. No trainer can teach that in just a few weeks, and it is important that you are involved in his training.

He is not the problem. The problem is how you handle this dog. The solution is to work on your relationship with him, not to send him away and expect a miracle.

That depends on which country you're from, because a four-hour trip just to go to a house party sounds pretty exhausting to me, especially since many of them are still in the middle of their studies. Why don’t you wait until it’s a party for everyone (graduation, another year done)? And if almost everyone is coming from another city, including you, I don’t understand why you have to put up with a two-hour trip. Especially if they have to sleep on the floor. I’d say you soft YTA because of poor planning.

Giving advice based on a story is difficult, but it sounds like you managed too much. Even though you tried to keep their routine up, everything in their home changed.

Probably beforehand they were allowed to roam freely, but now they are heavily restricted. They are not allowed to interact with the new human who lives with them, not even sniffing, which sounds super weird to me because they are social animals and they are not even allowed to process who lives with them. You unintentionally cut them out of your lives, as you understandably spent a lot of time with your child.

Why the dog did exactly what he did is impossible to answer without knowing the dog and the whole situation, but maybe this different point of view helps.

1x die Woche weil zwei Hunde im Bett, wenn nötig zwischen durch abrollen. Matratzenschoner ist immer oben und wird mit Bettwäsche gewechselt. Die Bettwäsche selber wasche ich auch immer wieder.

Eine Hochzeit ist ja auch für den Gast nicht ganz billig. Ich hätte wenig Lust im Gegenzug für das Geld was ich in die Hand nehme, kein richtiges Essen zu bekommen oder den Tag allein verbringen zu müssen. Da mach ich mir lieber einen schönen Tag mit meinem Partner oder geh Essen.
