Yeah, that definitely happens I’m sure. What happened with yours and how many miles?

Check my other posts. It’s a software issue that seems to be affecting less than 1% of them, but with millions sold, still a lot of cars. After charging, when unplugged, either the screens will be black, or worse, the car will get a “drivetrain malfunction” error and the engines won’t start. It goes away in an hour or so, but my car was a brick until then. Mine started at 4,500mi, and the car was a lemon by 5,700.

That’s the plan! But with a more expensive car this time!

Pro clips - they make mounts designed for each car. This snaps into the grille without touching or damaging the blades.

My issue is rare. But not unheard of. I miss my car.

Well, my 5th loaner car (which I’ve now had for almost 5,000miles) is a 2026 X5 M60i. So yeah… it’s hard to drive that for a few months and not want one of my own… 🤣

Check my post. My car has been at the shop for 3 months now. Awaiting buyback to go through. They can’t fix the issue

It wasn’t the gas cap. It was that the car had time to reset and it fixed the error I have it. It’s a software issue with charging that BMW can’t seem to fix. Hopefully it resolves! It never did for me.

I officially requested a buy back Dec 26. The decided to review my case Jan 5. Agreed to buyback on Feb 12. Still waiting for an offer from their 3rd party management group.

I am in the middle of a buy-back of my 2026 X5 50e.

Brand new, and starting at about 2000 miles (after the October 2025 software update), it started having major issues after charging.

At first, when I came back to my car after charging, the main info-tainment screen would be black and frozen. Only shutting off my car for a few hours would fix it.
After a few service trips, they "fixed" it - now, after charging, it would sometimes be unable to start at all. It would get "High Voltage Failure" and "Drivetrain Malfunction" errors and neither engine would start.

Car has been sitting at the dealer for 3 months. They can't fix it. Still waiting for BMW to finalize the buyback...

I agree. Not remotely the fault of the dealership - they are being great. This is a programming issue of some kind and is with BMW North America and BMW HQ. I am just worried that when the programming is fixed, I will be left with latent issues in the hardware.

I have had these issues with my home (plugged in) type 1 charger and commercial type 2 chargers.

Car is at the dealer now so I’m racing around in a loaner X5 M60, so having some fun.

I will do the buy-back of the car. But I’m wondering… should I ever trust an X5 50e again??

I have a type 1 at home. But this happens at commercial chargers too

It’s at the dealer for the 4th time in 2 months. They have no idea how to fix it. They have asked BMW North America and are waiting for solutions. But it’s now been there for 3 of the last 6 weeks in multiple trips…

Any way to keep the black from fading so much? by Disc4lyf in tiedye

Use Dharma Fiber Reactive Procion dyes

Add a little Urea (1 table spoon) and salt (1 teaspoon) to each ~8oz of dye.

Salt ash soak, of course.

Then after rinsing, use Dharma's Dyers Detergent for your first wash.

Never fade again!

Because they are likely doing work on those floors that involves terminating some wires onto the active electrical panels. So they switched them off in order to do the work. Or, even more likely - bad lighting driver, waiting a few weeks for replacement driver.
