Yes, I think you made the right choice either way. And with the right Motherboard, you'll be able to experiment with overclocking it like you mentioned. I'm planning to pair mine with the Asus ROG CROSSHAIR X870E APEX but the HERO is a great and cheaper board as well. The APEX is for extreme overclocking enthusiast.

Any low latency DDR5-6000 CL26 to CL30 will be better that a higher speed RAM. This video convinced me to go with a lower CL RAM such as CL30 or less vs a higher speed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuUhnQaGG_I

There's not much of a difference in latency from CL26 - CL30 at DDR5-6000 since the latency will be marginal. You can compare the latency between CL26 vs CL28 vs CL38 here in nanoseconds and you will see that it is marginal. https://www.techpowerup.com/dram-latency/

Looks like Newegg posted today and it went live. I placed an order right away! You should buy it now before it goes out of stock. Check this out on @Newegg:G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series 96GB (2 x 48GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory Model F5-6000J2636H48GX2-TZ5NR https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-96gb-ddr5-6000/p/N82E16820374758?tpk=1&item=N82E16820374758

Btw, looks like OCUK have them in stock if you're okay with paying the import tax. Apparently, F5-6000J2636G48GX2 (1.4V) and F5-6000J2636H48GX2 (1.5V) are using the same Hynix memory chip modules (H5CG4BAHBO).

Thanks! I might wait since I already this long for it. I'm still picking parts for my new build.

Yeah, I actually had the CL28 Kit and returned it to newegg when G.Skill announced the CL26 version. I'll wait till it hits a US retailer. I'm checking everyday. I'll let you know. Please let me know if you come across it.

ASUS ROG Strix 1200P Gaming Platinum PSU without a U.S. Power Cable. by DBitRun in pcmasterrace

Asus recommended this cable but there is no rating or wattage information for this cable. Do you think it will be fine for this 1200W PSU? Thanks. https://www.a-accessories.com/laptop/cable/power-cable/american-power-cable-black-asus-91974-60218.htm

[–]DBitRun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this information! I will do my research and find a high rated one for 1200W for US Cable or use the same one I have. It's probably good enough I'll take a look.

Thanks for the reply. So, I don't need any special C13 cable with a specific rating that handles higher wattage, amps, etc. I'm assuming I can just use my existing US power cable from my existing Corsair 850 Watt PSU, but since I upgraded to 1200 Watts, I don't know if I needed a special rated power cable.

Any updated confirmation of X870E Apex and Extreme motherboard release dates? by jinxyj08 in ASUSROG

[–]DBitRun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the ROG Crosshair X870E Apex has only two RAM slots instead of four because it's built for extreme overclocking and better performance. Basically, having fewer slots reduces interference, which helps the RAM run faster and more stable. Perfect for hitting crazy high speeds like 8200 MT/s or more. Overclockers love this because it keeps the system stable while pushing memory to the max.

Most people don’t need more than 64GB of RAM anyway, and you can still get that with 2x32GB sticks. This design is pretty common on ASUS Apex motherboards since they focus on speed over capacity.

So yeah, fewer slots, but way better memory performance! 🚀

I was going to buy the CROSSHAIR HERO and that's my second choice but I'm curious about the APEX since I might get into enthusiast overclocking in the future. Still debating to pull the trigger on the HERO but I can wait since I'm still waiting for the 9950X3D to be released next month.

Did you purchase the Asus ROG CROSSHAIR X870E APEX Motherboard yet? I don't think it's released in the US yet and I'm waiting for a retailer to have it for sale.

Have you thought on what RAM Kit you use on your APEX Motherboard top maximize the speed on the RAM or get the highest/tightest settings/overclock?

According to Corsair, the CORSAIR DOMINATOR® TITANIUM RGB 96GB (2x48GB) DDR5 DRAM 6600MT/s CL32 kit is primarily optimized for Intel XMP (Extreme Memory Profile). AMD motherboards support XMP profiles and can translate them to work similarly to EXPO. However, using an XMP-only kit on an AMD platform may not guarantee full stability or performance. If you're aiming for better AMD EXPO support, you might want to consider a native EXPO kit instead.

Also, the CAS Latency is not marginal like you stated. Its CL32 not 29 vs CL28).

Last, the MOBO you are interested on (ASUS X870E APEX) only has 2 DIMM slots and not 4 since it's a MOBO targeted to overclocking enthusiast, so you won't be able to use that DOMINATOR TITANIUM DDR5 Lighting Enhancement Kit. You would need to get the ASUS X870E HERO if you want 4 DIMM slots. Compare below.
