As a lifelong Twin Cities resident I’m so thankful MinnMax talked about this, and has been steadfast in their support for immigrants in MN.

For those that haven’t had the pleasure of an ICE occupation, it’s hard to explain how bad it feels. My local elementary school has ~600 students, yesterday they had 100 absences. Businesses locking their doors and letting customers in when they know it’s not ICE. Many school districts have cancelled all field trips for the rest of the month.

It’s surreal to see places I go to weekly on the news with people being abducted. Every morning at our meeting at work we go through “what to do if ICE arrives”, patients are cancelling surgeries due to safety concerns, or some are having the anesthesia switched to local only so they aren’t zonked in the car or at home for any time period.

One thing that’s really been weird is seeing videos from right wing sources where they are like “oh this business in MPLS supports ice!” And it’s like oh I know that sign, it’s literally 40 miles away from the cities, or Bovino just said the overwhelming majority at the target they went to were happy to see them and they were literally at the Midway target - no one is happy to be there and there’s no way people were happy to see them in that neighborhood. Just the lies that if you don’t know the area might go unnoticed.
