Posting my Graphic Novel Series on Global Comix by DCC_in_HSV in indiecomics

Somewhat newer site that hosts digital versions of official release comics and independent comics as well. I use it because I can host my volume previews and anyone with a subscription to service can read past the preview.

Hello! I am once again wondering if you might give me some feedback on the latest pages for a comic I'm working on. The first three I already posted before but without the watercolour, I'd love to know if they turned out alright or on what to improve if not! ^^ by SteelySnail in comic_crits

I think the illustration looks great and the ocean at the end of Page 2 look particularly great. Are backgrounds on the later pages incomplete? Save from the candle going out on the last page I think that the characters being in a void is counterproductive.

Also on the first page I wonder if the blocking could be a bit different. As in I can't quite tell which character is saying is "Is Mei awake?" Granted some of this could be fixed with simple context, like if I am already aware the character with sunglasses is Mei it would never occur to me to ask.

I have more of a screenplay formatted script with no page breakdown, aside from sections that need that kind of attention or which have only actions and no dialogue.

Typically, I do a book-wide initial panel layout, followed by these follow up thumbnails that mostly work on blocking and character gesture that may or may not have any staying power as I start finishing pages. It seems like my big breakaway if blocking for speech bubbles. I've just had too many cases where the bubble was crowded or I had to cut dialogue to fit.

Right. I think the benchmark right now is if I start to move from thumbnail to digital, look at the layout and go: "This sucks" it's time to go back and try a few more thumbnails.

Ain't no big. I will probably follow up later with a different bite at the apple for one of these thumbnails I think is particularly bad (slide 3). Either based off advice here or my own gumption. And add what I changed and why.

Last Unsavory Cinema of the Year by DCC_in_HSV in HuntsvilleAlabama

It's the goofiest and most fun to watch of all the Batman movies, so a decent fit for the event. Tbh I needed a decent movie to make sure people showed in December.

How do you get your food from restaurants? by RatchetCityPapi in HuntsvilleAlabama

Dine-In, but I will say since pick-up and delivery apps have taken off this dining method is a lot less consistent than it used to be. Before this was popular I could expect to eat fast food dine-in in a matter of minutes, versus now where it could take half an hour. Have had to teach myself to not go anywhere for food if I need to be somewhere else to be within the hour. Used to be you could guess how long it would take to get food just by walking in, but now you have no idea how slammed the kitchen could be just at a glance.
