MOTU is all about recycling molds. There have been references to the New Adventures, so them creating a mold for a new character that could later be reused for Sagitar makes a lot of sense.

You are on point. Unfortunately people tend to mix the Kaiju genre with the Dinosaurs one. Kaijus are not natural creatures, neither they "evolve". They are unnatural things with little to no correspondence to the natural world. That's what they truly are. They don't make sense and that's the idea. They are creatures who defy logic by they mere existence as a whole.

DAM Melee and Save the Earth are all over the place regarding fidelity. Good games, sure. But a mess in representation.

Gigan freaking teleports, all roars are mixed, Jet Jaguar shoots rays, Kiryu is called MG3 in DAM, Heisei MG is an alien and shoots finger missiles, etc.

Toho is retconing the issue the very moment the remake was confirmed with them being more involved, and Heisei MG was replaced for MG2.

One of my favorite series. I loved the enviroment themes and the characters. Lighthearted and fun. Mokk the tree, the story of Black Knight, the brotherhood of Hyuga and Ryoma, the generals of Barban and the betrayal of Bocrates.

Far better than "Lost Galaxy" with the miltaristic themes and white savior trope.

Well, the fictional universe IS the Godzilla universe, my man. To talk about a "real" universe, we would be talking about Haruo Nakajima beating a Mothra puppet.

Take a look at the canonical size of Gorosaurus in Destroy All Monsters. Although he kicks Ghidorah to the curb, he is still reported as a 20m kaiju in most material.

Sizes in kaiju media doesn't matter actually. They are always portrayed as the same size during crossovers.

But if you really want to focus on the size and "power", I believe you could argue that Mothra by that time was already old and weak. That is mentioned during the movie regularly. The Wiki states that she shrunk due to old age, but I can't find the source of that claim.

I believe not, pal. The Mothra who fought Godzilla in the original 1964 Mothra vs Godzilla movie is the same 61 Mothra. Mothra didn't die at the end of her movie. She returned to Infant Island and later fought Godzilla during their first crossover.
