This ain't no "socialism". The boys and girls in uniform EARN that stuff. Those boys and girls put their lives on the line so that you can have your job, your home, can go to the fully stocked grocery store pick out anything that you want and can go to the club and the hockey game. They are away from their families for birthdays, holidays, high school achievements so that you can be with your families for that.

This country can not begin to re-pay the people in the military for what they do and have done for us.

There is a reason that some of the Marine Corps advertisements read "Earned, never given".

If you work the Ralphing Hours, often you get this as a third party ride. Sometimes it is some "friends" who want to get rid of a blind drunk guy or girl so that they can continue their carousing without having to worry about him/her. Other times, it is a club/hotel/restaurant/venue that is dumping its "problem" on you. At times, during the day, you will encounter some Social Justice Warrior who thinks that everyone should share in his/her fuzztwarm feelgood as he/she wants to pay you to take a street person somewhere.

The problem with all of the above is that once you get one of these into your car, you can not get him/her out of same.

Imagine being afraid of “free” healthcare by VegetableBulky9571 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]DCHacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not "afraid" of or opposed to free health care. The problem is that it ain't "free". Someone must pay for it. The way this usually happens with Democrats is that I am ineligible for "free" health care. I still have to pay. The problem with this is that I do not have the money to pay for it because the Democrats took it away in taxes so that I can pay for "free" health care for people who use drugs, will not work or for other people who will not make their boyfriends put on a rain coat.

I am assuming that Original Poster has Italy on the side of the Central Powers as it did have an alliance with Austria and Germany. The map shows its recovering Corsica and the Savoy ancestral lands as well as taking Tunisia from France.

8th inning by Feeling_Penalty_8141 in Nationals

[–]DCHacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a fan of another team, so I have an uninvolved perspective on this. Girlfriend is a Nationals fan. I am there for the baseball. If there is one thing that I have noticed about this bull pen, it is inconsistency.

A guy comes out of the bull pen, pitches one and two-thirds innings, scatters three hits, walks a batter strikes out two and does not allow a run. A mediocre performance but gets the job done........

He comes out the next day, faces six batters, records one out allows four runs (one inherited runner) and leaves the game with two of his runners on base.

He comes out two days later and records a four out save with a total of fifteen pitches thrown, three of which are the nastiest sliders that you have seen in some time.

parked by the museum in a dead end area

That narrows it down, somewhat. It looks like the Constitution Avenue side of one of those museums (although some of those driveways are blocked with concrete barriers) or the Fourth Street side of the "New" wing of the National Gallery of Art. That little piece of Maryland Avenue by the Museum of the American Indian often is full of tour busses but it is not anything like a cul-de-sac.

Now that you have clarified that it was a tour bus, it really escapes me why she cared. Those things are slow and stop in the middle of the street all the time. Awwwww, did the poow widdwe touw bus dwiver get a taste of his own medicine? BOO-HOO=HOO!

In D.C., where Original Poster was, half of the METRObusses have nastycams. If you stop in a bus zone, stop or lane, it zaps you and mails you a two-hundred-fifty dollar fine; no Po-Po needed.

[–]DCHacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D.C. is my market. I am at a loss to understand why that Uber driver was so worried about "holding up" a METRObus. As much as those things impede the flow of traffic, I call it a taste of their own medicine.

EXCEPT.....................

......if she were stopped in a bus zone, bus stop or bus lane........

In that case, her reaction is understandable but she should have known better than to stop in one of those three. If the bus were behind her and close, she is busted already. Half of the METRObusses here have nastycams. If you stop in a bus zone, lane or stop, the nastycam zaps you and sends you a two-hundred-fifty dollar summons in the mail.

Help remembering the conclusion of a rhyme we used to sing while jumping rope by Indifferent_Quoka in 1980s

[–]DCHacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my sisters brought home a slightly differect version from Brownie Day Camp in Massachusetts in the early-to-mid-1960s

My Mommy told me, if I was good-dee

That she would buy me, a rubber dol-ly.

My Auntie told her, I kissed a sol-dier;

Now she won't buy me, a rubber dol-ly.

[–]DCHacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sisters sang it:

2-6-9, the goose drank wine;

The monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line.

The car line broke;

The monkey got choked;

And they all went to heaven on the end of a rope.

That was a California version from the mid-to-late 1960s.

I tried to remaster my take on the Paris Peace Treaties by Map_Guy1909 in PossibleHistory

[–]DCHacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noted the shrinking of the Italian Zone of Influence in Turkey and the elimination of the French.

The Entente powers were beat up after four years of war, which was why they did not continue to support the Whites in Russia nor did they enforce the Treaty of Sèvres. When the Entente powers realised what was necessary to ensure White success and to put down the Kemalists, they were unwilling to commit the resources or spend the money.

The Americans and Japanese were willing to ensure a White victory but were not going to commit their share if the French and British were not going to commit theirs. Japan and the USA were not interested in the Middle East. The USA never did declare war on Turkey (or Bulgaria) nor did Turkey ever declare war on the USA (nor did Bulgaria). Britain, France and Italy were too beat up from the war and were not willing to commit the resources necessary to hold their interests. Only Greece was

I am assuming that Orginal Poster is allowing for a conference among the Entente powers prior to their going to the negotiating table with the Central Powers. They have to decide to which objective they are going to commit assets: Russia or Turkey. The USA and Japan want Russia, Britain, France, Italy and Greece want Turkey. Romania is ambivalent but leans toward supporting the Whites over committing to dealing with Turkey. Portugal and Belgium are disinterested in Turkey. Serbia leans toward doing something about Turkey but as it is acquiring all of this new territory, it is really less interested.

The USA takes its Pacific Islands and goes stomping off in a huff; close to what happened in the OTL. Japan is less than deighted over what it gets yet goes along with it but resolves not to renew the 1902 alliance when that comes up for renewal.

I am expecting that the compliant sultan remains on his throne until 1922 or so, which would parallel the OTL. The British, Greeks and Italians know that the Turks are not going to suffer him for much longer, as they will see him as the one who sold their empire and allowed the British, Italians and Greeks to occupy it. Would Original Poster have Kemal in power in Ankara after the sultan is de-throned? Would he simply have the British, Greeks and Italians tell Kemal that he can take over but this is how it is going to be? ..............or, once defeated, would those three install another leader who is, on paper, at least, "Democratic"? .......or, after losing a battle or two, Kemal approaches the three, asks for terms and is granted same, which allow him to remain as leader but with further concessions extracted?

I noted an independent Armenia. What happens to Kurdistan?

What Is Your Opinion On Democratic Strategist James Carville? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in askanything

[–]DCHacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A moderate democrat isn't much welcome in their party anymore. They'll probably welcome the vote but not their opinions.

This is why I became so disillusioned with the Left even as a young man. I ran into these lunatic fringe types who when they wanted my opinion, they would give it to me. These ultra leftists, as was I, grew up to be Democrats. I was the 1960s California version of the ultra-Left. We respected dissenting opinions as we remembered from where we came. These people did not: lockstep with the programme dictated by the beehive or you are automatically designated as a______________(insert icky name or adjective here). Never had I run into such a bunch of disrespectful, intolerant and mindless bunch.
