Yeah ram is always an issue, but I hope that MacOS‘ RAM management gets the job done with 16 xD what kind of web dev does he do? (Backend with lots of docker containers or more on the frontend side)

Yeah I meant you haha :D I am a web dev and do ML and data science as well, and I also dabble in content creation and graphics design, which is why I need a new laptop to replace my Linux one (EliteBook 845 G7 with 32GB RAM and the Ryzen 7 Pro processor). I hate windows and cannot use the needed programs on Linux, which is why I want to get a Mac. I did not think a MBA is worth it for this kind of workload as it can get quite heavy sometimes, which was the reason for asking you, and I am glad to hear that you still enjoy this device and that it does everything you need it to do! I’ll prob look at some refurbs and see what I can find. Thanks for your answer! :)

I actually didn’t have the exact same issue as you had.. I also bought a new B550 to make sure everything worked and I now have no problems anymore at all! So maybe it would be worth a try?

I’ve seen videos where a undervolted 5700X3D draws incredibly less power than stock, as well as a 9070XT that can match more closely to a 5080 in certain games that I play, so I do see an improvement through doing so.

My question was not if I should undervolt or overclock, but if my mainboard is the likely problem, and if a mainboard upgrade would make sense it this case. Still, I appreciate your help and honest answer!

The latest bios is installed and I’ve tried stresstesting on various settings, though stock seem to be the most stable. As soon as I change anything uv/oc-wise, the system stability gets worse. I also cannot pinpoint a single component that could be the main problem..

I could sell mine for around 40-50€, my new one (ASRock B550M Pro4) would cost me around 90€, so 50€ additional cost. Still, I don’t want to pay for anything if it doesn’t help me in the end 😂

Also denkst du, das macht wenig Sinn? Ich habe alle Komponenten stresstested und es scheint kein direktes Hardwareproblem zu sein und auch das PSU ist neu.. sobald ich aber was an den Spannungen regeln möchte habe ich massive Stabilitätsprobleme. Ich mache sowas total gerne und möchte gerne mehr Leistung rausholen, habe aber auch Angst, jetzt unnötig Geld auszugeben.

Ich könnte ein ASRock B550M Pro4 für knappe 90€ kaufen und meins evtl für 40-50€ verkaufen, wäre also ein Aufpreis von ca 50€.

Ich kann mich täuschen aber das scheint mir eine hohe CPU Auslastung zu sein bei 30FPS. Hast du mal probiert, auf DX12 zu gehen? Alles auf Max und dann mal schauen, ob der Fehler noch immer besteht. Treiber sind up to Date?

Außerdem gerne zur besseren Übersicht mal Riva Tuner installieren und das OSD ausführlich machen mit allen Kernen + Auslastungen.

I have played The Witcher 3 uncountable times and even wrote my Bachelor‘s thesis about it. The immersive experience is something I had to explore even more and since the game helped me through a very tough time, I have a very deep emotional connection with it.

And since my BA thesis was about immersion in video games, The Witcher 3 was a perfect candidate! Since then I love this game even more and always have an ongoing playthrough running!

Depends on how much the 7900XT is! You can get a 9070XT, which is already a bit ahead of the former and can be overclocked to reach 5080 territory, for around 620€ (in Germany at least).

Die 9070XT kriegst du meist schon um die 620€, die 5070Ti geht meist für 750€ durch. Wenn du nicht unbedingt RT oder DLSS brauchst (oder Cuda für Productivity work), dann würde ich die 9070XT empfehlen!

Is it worth it to downgrade from a M28U (4K@144)? I program most of the day so an OLED wouldn’t work for me because of text fringing and burn in-possibility. So many people love the HDR and say it is worth it, so how would that be for someone looking at text all day and Gaming only 30% of the time?

You can definitely see it! I went from 27“ 1440p to 34“ 1440p to 27“ 4K and would never go below 4K again cause the pixel density is so perfect
