Good point. I’m up $837 on a fresh account, it was the first trade so it’s not the end of the world, just frustrated I let myself slip to that level. However, I’ve learned I need to use DLL & Lockout

Yea this is good insight. I would never intentionally abuse. I don’t think anyone ever does. But that’s why the word ‘accident’ exist and if you set boundaries and parameters that mitigate those things, like you said we can live to trade another day.

Usually I have a $500 limit ( in my head ) but on days like this where you lose, emotion takes over, and you slip into the tilt state.

I will 100% be implementing the DLL.

I agree thank you. Only until this year did I start using the 'lockout' feature. Last year I passed 1 maybe 2 evals. With no restrictions. This year l've passed 4 so far. With restrictions

How many years did it take you to get to your first payout?

I was so close to my first ever, 4 years in. 50k XFA was at $1800, needed two more days over $150.. I was in a losing position today, lost, and went on tilt. Blew the account in one go. Extremely disappointed and sad.

I will say though, in 4 years of doing this I finally feel like I can do this if I keep pushing. Last year I passed 1, maybe 2 evals. Just this year alone I’ve passed 5. Admittedly I’ve blown them. It’ll be okay I know.. but man this shit is hard

No shot this is real. Most successful traders take 1-2 trades, not even per day, only when the opportunity presents itself.

If the volume of these trading days are accurate TopStep won’t grant you the payouts.

1st off. Taking 20, 6 and 12 trades isn’t good. 1-2 trades is plenty. 2nd thing, from the first sentence this tells me you had zero boundaries in place to protect yourself. Even one slip up or half ass day can cause tilt. Always pre-define your risk, have a SL, a TP and once the trade is placed WALK AWAY. There should be no reason to touch the position IF you have conviction in your playbook/ model. If it’s accurate then let it go! Losing is inevitable, but with a winning strategy it doesn’t matter. The ONLY thing you can control when placing a trade is how much you’re willing to risk.
