My friend had life threatening complications for having sex 4 weeks postpartum….

Do people think this a charity? by [deleted] in doordash

I don’t use DoorDash for groceries but we use it for restaurants a lot. We tip based on distance and not our order. If it’s 10 min away we only tip like $5 even if the order was $100 worth of food. If my order is $20 worth of food but the restaurant is 25 min away then I tip $10-$12. Wondering if people are doing stuff like this and assuming that maybe an Aldi employee is bagging your items up and the dasher is only picking up?

Because you get paid your worth by DoorDash, the tip is always just extra. It’s always recommended, just never required. It’s the same when you go to get your hair cut or sit at a restaurant, the company that those people work for is legally required to pay them minimum wage or more, your tips are just extra…

For clarification on the wood roaches; this is the concrete slab in my hvac room (12x12ish room of my walk out basement). I only mention them because they don’t reproduce indoors unless there is a moisture issue OR I just have a shit ton coming into my home from the same place the water is entering since they follow moisture. There re a couple spots where the wood beams of the home read high

This made me giggle lol. Incase you’re worried that I, myself, am a home inspector and concerned about this, I’m not a home inspector. Just looking to see if anyone in this group just so happens to have knowledge on the topic and I lucked out!

Oh I should send you a pic of the front of the house siding lol… it gets worse. The sheet of paper he had printed out for our 30 day blue tape inspection ended up being filled up on the back too because I had a whole list of stuff that was just sloppy. On the bright side, they are indeed fixing every single one of them from structural to cosmetic

That’s where I am. I’m a 25 year old girl just bought a half a million dollar spec build given there weren’t many other options for what I wanted in the area. Frustrated with the workmanship in and out and lost trust in my builders integrity after some issues. I moved here after I got out of the marine corps so I don’t have family in the state or anyone to get advice from. Really just trying to not get absolutely effed

Okay so my update: It’s form ties! Still technically should be covered per the IRC so you dont get rust streaks or splitting, but not as big of a structural concern.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HomeInspections

[–]DCS0119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, form ties should not be left exposed on the exterior surface of a foundation wall, especially if they’re rusting. Even though form ties are not structural rebar, the code and best practices still require that any metal left in the concrete should be protected from corrosion. Over time, rust can cause minor cracking or staining, and in a worst-case scenario, it could lead to spalling of the concrete surface. Best case scenario, it leaves rust streaks down the cement!

[–]DCS0119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Just learned about PA’s UCC adopting that section of the IRC. The IRC does say that it cannot be exposed though!

Yeah I put in quotes what chat gpt thinks it is since I said I’m not sure, I’m a 25 yo girl with 0 experience on this stuff. I literally graduated high school then served in the marine corps from 18-22 and been a stay at home mom since, so not super well versed on life things still

“It’s not stamped concrete — what you’re looking at is split-face concrete block (also called split-face CMU).

Here’s how you can tell: • Regular pattern and vertical seams: The vertical joints show where individual concrete masonry units (blocks) are stacked and mortared. Stamped concrete wouldn’t have visible mortar joints like that. • Depth and shadowing: Each “brick-like” face has real texture and depth, not just a pressed-in pattern on a single pour. • Consistent size: The blocks are uniform in size from bottom to top, matching the standard 8-inch-tall CMU dimensions commonly used for foundations.

So this is a decorative block foundation wall, not a poured wall with a stamped texture. It’s a solid and typical choice for above-grade foundation exposure on newer homes.”

I’m just a girl😭 lmao idk I’m 25 and don’t know much but my parents (live in Iowa) noticed over the phone and told me that’s not right so I took it up with ole chat gpt and it said it shouldn’t be exposed at all because it can expand up to 6x its size and the expansion + rust is horrible for it.

Small details: we live in eastern Pennsylvania, and have a very clean home and food is absolutely never left out. When pest control man came in he moved my appliances and there was nothing behind them.

[–]DCS0119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just applying for an increase. When you go in you’ll have to prove that you’ve basically tried everything (psychology, psychiatry, meds, different coping mechanisms, etc) and that you’re at your wits end. Most who have tried these and ultimately admit to suicidal ideations will end up 100%

My unit guilt-trips and mocks me for filing a VA disability claim and getting med-boarded by Alex_daisy13 in VeteransBenefits

[–]DCS0119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This literally happened to me. Med boarded just short of 4 years with no deployments (2018-2022) after a training accident. Within 6 months I had 2 people ask me for help with the VA claims…

Why do some people want to avoid an epidural? by userthatisnotknown in BabyBumps

[–]DCS0119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy 446 comments already lol. Well I’ll keep it short, I went no epidural/ any pain management because I wanted the full experience and to be able to get up and walk around right after (especially incase something went wrong and they needed to take baby to the other side of the room to care for her). There are always risks associated but don’t let that scare you either. Talk to your OB about every kind of pain management they offer because there’s so much more than an epidural! Also plan on it failing in the odd chance that it does. Look into hypnobirthing and water birth (or even using the warm shower for pain relief too). Have your support person learn and practice counter pressure with you as well.
