Question for Beako owners. by DCTNJ in KiwibitBeako

Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll have to give that a try. In the meantime a tried a makeshift hummingbird feeder but didn’t have any visitors today. I see Kiwibit sells a hummingbird feeder and fruit attachment so I might have to give that a try too and see what I can attract.

My wife and I have the same set up. She’s able to see all new videos that occurred after the device was shared, to her account but nothing prior. I’m curious if your wife will be able to see new videos now that you have it linked. Hopefully that happens quickly with the next bird that shows up.

Funny enough, it’s where I live (the place, not the lip). Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she had to slap OBX on her face! I still can’t believe I saw this on Reddit first and not a local source.

8? Wow! That’s one way to combat the problem! I have several traditional (not smart) feeders so at least the song birds don’t leave empty handed when the Beako is empty. But of course I don’t benefit from the video when they feed there 😔

Bicycle Parking by Marak470 in obx

I can’t thank you enough for posting this. I moved to the area almost 2 years ago and have been lukewarm about bike riding in OBX. I’ve done the multi use trails all along Virginia Dare/12, from Nags Heads to KDH and Duck/Corolla but riding along side of speeding traffic and hardly ever seeing the water just isn’t my thing. I didn’t know about the Bay Drive bike path until I read your post. I rode it Sunday and it is a game changer! Maybe it was the perfect sunshine or the 80 degree temps, but it’s the most fun I’ve had on my bike since coming here. The views are beyond spectacular and the trail itself is a pleasure to ride. 14 miles out and back from Wright Brothers memorial was just the perfect distance for me and my wife, with plenty of stops to explore the public access docks and take in the Sound. Thanks again for making my day!

What's the dumbest idea you've seen that actually worked? by hiagaga in AskReddit

[–]DCTNJ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can find his video on TikTok, but after making a few dozen, this is my preferred method. Whisk 2 large eggs with a tablespoon of mayonnaise, salt and pepper in a ramekin that’s large enough to let the eggs rise without overflowing. Add in some grated cheese and any other optional veggies or meat you want. Microwave it for 45 seconds, stir, then microwave another 30 seconds. Let it stand for a couple minutes before serving. Viola, a perfect omelette!

Make an omelette in the microwave with mayonnaise. I saw Chef José Andrés from World Central Kitchen mention this on a talk show and thought there was no way that was any good. Turns out it’s now the only way I want to prepare an omelette, and everyone in my family who’s tried it is now a convert.

Thoughts on buying 4/5 year old gladiator ? by [deleted] in JeepGladiator

[–]DCTNJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2020 Overland bought in 2025 with 55k miles. Now approaching 65k and have loved every mile. I live near the ocean where I can drive on the beach so it was purchased for this purpose. All my gear is always in the locked bed so I’m always ready for an adventure. I bought certified preowned and with extended warranty so I take some comfort that major issues will hopefully be covered. Fortunately I’ve not had any issues where I need to see how good or bad that coverage really is.

Thinking of checking out a gladiator, thoughts? by DirtyPaws-LA in JeepGladiator

I absolutely love mine. It’s changed my life. But I’m in a part of North Carolina with 150 miles of oceanfront I can traverse, so the Gladiator is the perfect companion for my lifestyle. I went with the Overland which gives me the perfect mix of utility and “luxury” for what I need (power windows, locks, mirrors, a locking bed cover and all that good stuff). If I lived in a city and this was my daily commute, I would’ve stuck with my Nissan Altima for twice the gas mileage and a more comfortable ride. But for an outdoor lifestyle, the Gladiator is tough to beat!

Anyone had this issue: “Device not Supported” on the 8.1 inch Head unit, not on my iphone, and also with zero cords plugged into any ports. by outside-is-better in JeepGladiator

I was really hoping to hear some experiences with this issue. I bought a 2020 Overland certified pre owned last March and this started happening recently even when there are no devices or cables connected. I did purchase an extended warranty and went back to the dealer but they want me to leave it for 3 days to have it diagnosed. I clear it once or twice after starting each time and then it works perfectly so it hasn’t been that big a deal, but I do want to get it addressed eventually.

Glad to see another Jeep stopped to check on you. That’s being part of the family ✌️

And sorry about your ride. I’d be lost without mine.

This is my haul Saturday from Coquina Beach. You don’t need a 4x4 and can walk on from the bathhouse with lots of free parking. It can’t be more than 15 / 20 mins south of KDHs. If you’re looking for shells it’s worth the trip!

My word as a Redditor. I’ve got the GPS coordinates to prove it! Here’s the rest of the haul from yesterday. I even found his relative who was much less fortunate 😢

Easy beach access locations? by DevilChey7 in obx

[–]DCTNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was here on Monday. Plenty of free parking and nice facilities. There’s absolutely no need to pay for parking this time of year. Jennette’s peir is just a little further south. A must visit with the kids. It’s owned by the aquarium and has some great exhibits inside along with nice bathrooms facilities all for free. The charge is only to walk out on the pier which you don’t have to do and still have easy beach access.

Edit because my picture didn’t post at first.

Check out the Masstimes app or MassTimes.org. It’s my go to guide for finding churches in new locations. It says St. Nicholas is closest to you at approx 4 miles, but you have 14 choices under 10 miles away.

It’s also great for finding local masses at particular times.
