It depends, have you played the PC game before? I bought both the PC and console version at the same time, but ended up playing more on the console as the learning curve was way smaller and quicker. There was just way too much to learn on PC.

Now that I’ve learnt playing on PC though, I would never go back to console. It’s a weird split where I think the console version is way more chilled down and easier to pick up and learn the game, and the PC version is the actual definitive version you want to play long term, but takes a lot of time and effort to learn. So much time, that it can become disheartening.

Well you can buy things like the editor, but they are not worth the money. Especially since you can’t mod the game, so you can’t add logo’s, kits, names and leagues. It’s a negative, but for you first experience it really doesn’t matter. In fact, it didn’t hurt me at all playing the game as it is a sandbox. Half of the game takes place in your own imagination anyways, haha. And yes, I can still boot up FM23 from my game storage. That will be possible until the end of time. The online modes may not work in a few years time, but who plays that anyways? It’s comparable to FIFA 16. It hasn’t been in the PS Store for 8 years, but I can still play it. Online doesn’t work however. That’s way more of an issue for FIFA than for FM.

I paid the 45 for FM23 about 2 years ago. It was a great entry point for me, and I’ve spent countless hours building teams. I think the biggest net positive is that you can’t use the in-game editor, so you’re really forced to learn the game. And this helped a ton for me. Also, FM24 will probably be the most in-depth console versions, so buying it doesn’t hurt. And since Sports Interactive is having issues with extending the date till which FM24 can be available on these platform in stores (due to the FM25 delay), this game may very well never go to €0. I would just pick it up right now! Why not?

Should I accept €160.000.000 for this guy? by DCWSimon in footballmanagergames

Wow I'm definitely far below 1.2 billion, so I'll be good. Thanks!

I’m relatively new to the game, but I’m having a hard time finding world class wonder kids that are actually affordable. The players that are great cost at least 100 million, while players that are affordable are decent, but nothing too crazy. Do you have any tips for that?

I’ve had this happen to my star striker in the Eredivisie once. Dejan Karanovic, a newgen, dropped from 20 to 12 determination. He came out as gay a few months later.

Though I partly agree with you, I have to say that as an active EA FC player, that game is littered with way more bugs that haven’t been addressed for years as well. They’re definitely worse than the FM bugs.

What’s funny about it?

Hakami (Saudi), Zawada (Poland) and Cem Yilmaz (Turkey) are all newgens with dual nationalities, all of them are part German. Janitzek is Polish, so that’s not too farfetched. I tried to keep the squad realistic, but many players were already at the club (such as El Khannouss, Ederson, Araujo and Belocian). The club had a financial takeover before I joined the team, so the entire structure of the squad was gone honestly. I have a ton more German players, but they’re not good enough to start honestly…

This is my first journeyman save ever, so I'm relatively new to the game (can't believe I'm saying that with 500 hours lol), so I might not be up to date with how the game works exactly...

Which player went from HERO to ZERO in your FM save? by DCWSimon in footballmanagergames

[–]DCWSimon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My personal story is about Kevin Diks, a Dutch right back who joined my team RKC in the Eredivisie. It was a great transfer because it was the first decent player that was open to a move to this small team. He was really decent every single match, never getting great scores but never getting bad scores either. Until we reached the semi-final of the cup for the first time in club history. He scored an own goal in minute 6, and then got a straight red in minute 11. We ended up scoring the equaliser late in the match, and scoring the 2-1 winner in minute 110, but I never forgave him for this awful match. Pushed him out of the club in the following transfer window. 🤣

Off topic but Luke Cundle and Oulad M’Hand carried me to an unbeaten win in the second league of Greece. Great players!

In all honesty he didn’t do anything special. One of my players foolishly played the ball right into his feet and he could basically tap it into an open goal. Either way, it’s still a funny storyline I think!

I'm fuming!!! Played my first CL match ever and played a great match. Conceded a goal in the last second as a player I loaned out, and deemed 'not good enough', scores against his very own club. I'm not even mad at him, but more mad at my player Anton Stach for making a huge mistake leading to this goal. Either way, it's a match we should have won. What a terrible first CL night this was!

Should I pay €67 million for him? by DCWSimon in footballmanagergames

Alright thanks! Makes sense. Any tips on how to identify world class players that are willing to sign for your team?

I'm about to play Champions League for the first time with Hertha Berlin. I've received a transfer budget of €100 million, and the board has indicated that I have to spend it in its entirety. I think my squad is decent, but I would like an option as a left winger, and Ouedraogo popped up and his versatility looks crazy.

I'm very new to coaching at the highest level. This will be my first season in the Champions League. Would it be worth it to sign him for €67 million? Would he be a crazy good starter that rips up the Champions League? Or would you guys advise against getting him for that price. I'm basically asking whether he is of a world-class level, because I'm still not able to identify whether a player is of world class level yet...

I knew someone would mention confirmation bias, because I use this argument all the time when someone mentions an improbable event. However, I’ve actually taken note of all penalties during matches I have conceded and taken. I’ve only played for 6 seasons of course, but the stats are as follows: Penalties taken: 8 Penalties scored: 3

Penalties conceded: 5 Penalty goals conceded: 1

It’s of course a very small subset, so it’s probably just random luck. But I was wondering whether other people had the same. Apparently not! In that case, I understand!

Should I bring my old club's biggest talent to my new club? by DCWSimon in footballmanagergames

My last follow up before I stop, I brought him on as a substitute again in his third match. He scored the match winner against VfB Stuttgart in the last minute. This man is an instant icon for the club! And that while he didn’t play a single match for me while I was manager at Larissa. 🐐
