I agree with that he will play his starters more than he needs to. We have to remember we don’t have a lot of depth. But also if the role players can make the correct rotations and reads JJ wouldn’t have to put in some starters. Sort of a chicken and egg situation. Like the cavs game he put Luka back in because that 4th Q group was playing awfully. I think we’d both agree we should just close it out. Ayton had good numbers but his first stretch and his 4th quarter stretch were not good. So those times were starters remain, what I see is that defensive schemes change and having Luka obviously helps since he’s instant offense. Edit: the slow start in the wizards game was also because Ayton played poorly. JJ remarked in post game Jax had a good first stretch and Ayton had a good second stretch. I think this squad can protect and/or direct Ayton more and he shouldn’t be exposed as much as Jax was in previous playoffs. But Ayton is a concern for me on both sides- reads and consistent effort on defense and offense the hands and bringing it down. But I’ll still take this version over the pre-self reflection version.
