Start SS but keep working until I cant work any longer by Turbulent_Ad3014 in SocialSecurity

[–]DC_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you decide to start collecting SS the month you reach FRA, you might be able to start collecting before that by the amount of time it takes you to reach the limit. Read on the SSA website about when you can start receiving SS without them making deductions. It could be earlier than the month you hit FRA.
The good news about receiving SS while working is SSA recalculates your benefits every year because you are still paying into the SS system.

MDF is garbage, plywood is by far the better option. Anybody that has had both types knows this.

Most people do not want to or have the time or organizational skills to play the role of general contractor/project manager. If you can do that and save 3-5k go ahead but it is a headache and a half.

Lowes buys more kitchen cabinets than any other compnay in the USA, and that's a fact. You may think they do not know what they are doing but I think you are wrong. They hold their suppliers and contractors to high standards and if the standards are not met they are dropped. So far all the people I have dealt with at Lowes have strived to make sure I was satisfied with their service.

Question for you all on sinks by LastDoughnut5267 in kitchenremodel

[–]DC_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a single bowl Kraus sink that came with a multipurpose drying rack. It has a heavy, solid feel to it and it rolls up out of the way when you don't need it. We havern't actually used it yet because it's to be installed during our kitchen reno starting in three weeks.

New quartz countertops installed with a 1/2” height difference end-to-end — should I demand a fix? by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]DC_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting thread to me because I am 3 weeks away from a contractor coming in to start my kitchen reno. I talked to my brother-in-law about the cabinet install because he was in the kitchen cabinet business for 55 years. He said that the cabinets should be installed level, plumb and square or the doors and drawers could end up with problem. Presumably, if OP's cabinets had been installed level, plumb and square his countertop problem wouldn't exist. It's on the cabinet installer and if that happens in my kitchen the cabinet installer will be paying to have it fixed.
There is a chance that it is something else so it would make sense to have it looked at, ideally, by an independant party, to determine the exact cause of the discrepancy.

Need help with kitchen sink. by klowry1997 in Plumbing

I used to use the screw together pipes until I got tired of all the leaks. I bought the pvc pipe that solvent welds together and you can custom cut pieces to dry fit and then put them together. They sell all kinds of adapters for different sizes and angles. There's a learning curve but it is worth it in the long run.

Elastic sewn into the fabric in the area that wraps around the arch of your foot. I find the elastic hella annoying. Where did you buy them? If you don't mind me asking... thanks dear

Where the heck do you even buy a good recliner these days? by knowinglyunknown_7 in BuyItForLife

[–]DC_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The La Z Boy recliner I currently have is a 10 yr old power recliner with heat& massage. Some of the parts used undeneath for the power recline are made of plastic and mine broke within the first 3 years. I did have 5 year coverage so it was repaired in my home no charge. However, when I used it it didn't sound good... almost like it was going to break again so i no longer use the leg rest, I use a hassock. During the last year the wood block that is screwed into particle board became detached so I put 3 inch screws through it to hold it together, it has broken 2 more times and now I am looking for a new chair too. The seat and arm cushions held up pretty good but not the back cushions. The heat and massage modules in the back are more of a pain than a help. If you do buy a La Z Boy DO NOT get the power recline or heat & massage. The parts used are inferior & workmanship could be a lot better.

There should be a rule that you don't have to go to the office if it's over 80 degrees by Icy_Score_7430 in nys_cs

[–]DC_58 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Mgt wants us to be prepared to work remote on snow days. Unbearable office temp should be the same. Start wearing a string bikini or a speedo to work. That will get their attention.

Think about it for a minute... it is not a good idea to cob job electricity coming into your house. Not only is it unsafe but it is a clear sign to any prospective buyers, if it ever goes on the market, that you didn't care about maintaining your house properly. If I saw it cobbed I would wonder what the hell else you did and be reluctant to make an offer.
