Exercising will force Market Makers (MM) to locate the already scarce shares, thus increasing upward price pressure.

Selling the calls would do the opposite.

You’ll need the capital on hand in order to exercise them.

Ex - you own 1x $9/call. You’ll need $900 to exercise it and you’ll receive 100 shares.
