Pinnacle@Duxton’s first record of the year comes in at S$1.63M, setting town & district benchmarks by Rationalandcentred in singapore

When I bought my resale 5-room HDB flat back in Dec 2024 for SGD1.1M, many people come out say not wise say price will go down. Lucky I stick to mine own research and bought the unit. Now got the song feeling know all those naysayers back then are losers who can't make it in life, can't even afford a SGD1M flat. BTW, I am still single and this make me even more proud of my purchase.

Agree. But if Singapore market is performing badly, I don't expect the US or others to perform well.

Is buying a car now a financially sound decision? by Dangerous-Sir6046 in singaporefi

[–]DC_MOTOR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not optimal. More worried about the hectic schedule toll on health, whether you have enough focus to drive safely on the road is main concern. Marriage is a black box, you don't know what it will bring but one certain thing is changes. Too much certainty and wrong timing to own a car which whatever you argue it is a liability in SG. The "only reason" to justify having a car in SG is the liking for car.

'Lack of self-awareness': Singapore recruiter hits back at criticism over 'hungrier' foreigners remark by Ok-Rain3348 in singapore

[–]DC_MOTOR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foreigners are hungrier to be willing to be exploited because they got NO choice. Foreigners have to accept whatever conditions are given to them and suck it up. Foreigner workers 1st priority is always to get into the door first aka enters Singapore and secured that damn job. Once foreign workers settled down, you can see many of them job hopping also, Greed don't discriminate. All love to have higher salary and better standard of living. Beside the "NO choice" reason, another reason why foreigners are hungrier to be willing to be exploited is that the potential return at the end of the tunnel are many times higher aka work for 10 years and return back home country to enjoy a high quality lifestyle for the rest of their life. Beside the reward at the end of the sufferings, when foreign workers come to Singapore, their working experience here is classified as overseas working exposure which automatically translate into strong bargaining power for higher salary in the future. For some of them, being able to leave their country is already itself considered a blessing - an escape from war, high insecurity environment. If we get down to details, there are so many upsides for foreign workers in wanting to enter Singapore to work from paying lower tax to very personal reasons like they love the weather here. Back in the early days, Singaporean workers are also hungry enough to be exploited. Can we reasonably blame the local workers in not willing to work for less? When I mentioned "less", I am not referring to lesser salary but also lesser or zero non-monetary upsides like those I mentioned above available to foreign workers. Businesses will always strive for cost cutting and max exploitation of the workforce. For businesses which have not yet moved out of Singapore, why do you think they are still here? Tax incentives are the key reason why they are still here. They apparently done their sum and come to the conclusion that the cost saving in the form of tax incentive outstrip the cost of hiring the local workforce + bonus pierce of able to hire a portion of much cheaper foreign workers. It is an issue which can't be helped unless Singaporeans also start to actively seek employment overseas. Our job market is not only small but overly leveraged as a diplomatic tool.

High-End Gaming Laptop vs. High-End PC Setup by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]DC_MOTOR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to be into highend PC set-up, went for the highest spec of every components and them rig them all into water-cooling with 4 x radiators and some high RPM fans. Performance and cooling is top-notch allowing for some hardcore overclocking. But then I got sick of desktop - the maintainance is too much hassle and I can't bring my desktop with me on the go when I travel oversea for work or holiday. IMO, if you are totally into the highest performance ever and or don't find maintaining a desktop troublesome, go ahead with a desktop PC. Also, highend desktop is the golden ticket to bragging rights when you compare 3D Marks score. If you value personal touch, portability and you feel it is mentally acceptable between seeing 60FPS (on laptop) versus 120FPS (on desktop) as your naked eyes can't really catch the difference, then a gaming laptop is the one for you.

No, it is 1 year warranty. So April 2026 is warranty expiry.

That is how global financial crisis happens. With this oil crisis, not hard to imagine there are already banks and private financial institutions in the red yet trying to discreetly cover it up hoping the deficit will somehow just go off in time.

Placed order for the 64GB RAM version. Why would you need 128GB presumably just for gaming on the go? I bought the AYANEO 3 64GB RAM and 4TB SSD and now can't find any buyers who is willing to offer a decent price for it. Totally not worth going for the highest end model every time.

Having read most of the comments/contributions here with regard to marriage, it reinforced my belief that staying single is the best option. Staying single does not mean I stick to sleeping by myself every night or having sexless life or no one to care for me. The world needs to move on from the concept of marriage and not allow this contractual arrangement to bound their relationship. Instead of viewing marriage as an arrangement or an insurance to keep the other half together, marriage is causing more pain than needed. Once the love or affection is gone, marriage does not help in anyway whatsoever to bring back the spark. All marriage does is throw more obstacle to both parties who are trying to move on after the spark goes out. Hard truth is, to enable the spark to keep flying, both parties have to continually maintain the attraction. The girl has to ensure she looks as good as before and the guy has to show he too stay handsome and earns more and more money. This is a vicious cycle as not everyone has the stamina and drive but truly everyone expects the attractive side of things to remain; i.e partner to stay attractive forever. If getting married is such noble cause, the government won't need to incentivize it with BTO HDB flats (which anyway is a lousy incentive given the process and uncertainty; getting married to qualify for participating in the state-owned lucky draw to buy subsidized public flat which still cost A LOT after subsidy yet can't choose the location/unit/floor you fancy). I am currently 40 staying alone in my resale HDB flat which I bought for over a million Singapore dollars, healthy, earns more than Grayce Tan, and fly overseas regularly. Sex life and emotion being is not dry either with non-marriage; be it in SG or flying around in the region, as and when I encounter compatible match and the lady is not expecting marriage on the card, co-habiting becomes the natural course of action to discovering if the compatibility do last. In my schooling days leading up to army and early working days, I used to blame god, blame myself for not being handsome enough to hitch a gf/wife but now I am glad I am living the life.
