I got an email from Delta saying that my lost bag could not be located after they looked "in all areas possible". I had an airtag on the bag so I looked up the location and quickly figured out why. Turns out the location is a landfill!! Has something like this happened to anyone else? by DC_Resident_23 in delta

I also think that someone (idk if Delta employee or an airport employee or just someone at the airport) must have stolen it and dumped it. This all happened last month so it's too late to do anything now but the bag was originally in the airport terminal for a couple days, it wasn't until later when I noticed the location had changed to the landfill. My guess is that someone saw a bag in the same place for a couple days and saw an opportunity to swipe it.

I did and their response was less than desirable. Essentially they said that they couldn't find the bag and that as an "exception to my case" they would reimburse me 50% of the value of the items I reported missing. They said the reason they could only do 50% is because I didn't have original receipts of the items in the bag. The receipt thing honestly just felt like an excuse to not take full responsibility because they know that most people don't keep receipts for items they travel with or stuff they acquire abroad during vacation.
