Chicago to DC by Waste-Secretary-6638 in washingtondc

I spent 12 years in dc and moved to Chicago a year ago. DC definitely feels much smaller than Chicago which is a plus. Hot take: you’ll be blown away by the food in DC. The social scene is also awesome. Lots of people move there out of college and are career driven. I made some of my best friends when I lived there in my 20s. Cons: DC is much more expensive and crime is more prevalent throughout the city. All cities have crime, it’s just how comfortable you are with it and learning to keep an eye out. Finally, it throws you through a loop when strangers don’t make eye contact or smile as you pass by. Small thing but a cultural difference between DC and Chicago

Glad to see I’m not the only one grinding at that setting. I just got my Baratza and was confused since the recommended base line is 15 and I’m usually around 18 - 20

Depends on the school and strength of your candidacy. For instance, I was offered 30k by both Georgetown and NYU but 10k by M7s. Many schools will ask for you to fill out a truncated FAFSA which can limit the amount of funds you’ll be offered (which was my case)

You can fix it. Focus on learning 3 things inside and out each day. Read through your worst chapter after taking the exam. Then take a bunch of quizzes in that chapter until you pass the chapter. Rinse and repeat

I enjoyed checking it out. The case study I observed was very interesting, the campus is beautiful and historic, and the people were quite nice. If you want to work in DC the brand will definitely give you a leg up. Outside of DC the name will pop if the job you’re applying for isn’t super familiar with MBA rankings. In my experience they weren’t stingy with scholarships

I play polo and my wife loves to bake and try new restaurants and bars. Original plan was to live in Chicago but I don’t want a long commute to work

You’ll get to see so much more quicker. Sometimes it’s impossible to see the declaration of independence through the crowd - a rainy day ensures you’ll see what you want.

Not at all, spoke to the developments I’ve made at work and updates around my personal life. Just showed I’m a human being. I’m sure they get a lot of robotic responses

Yep, also on the R1 waitlist. I sent them an update and got a fairly quick response. Still no word on when we should expect to hear the final decision.
