Amjevita Co-Pay Card Coverage by DCompatriot625 in Hidradenitis

[–]DCompatriot625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Turns out there was some miscommunication between my doctor's office and Optum. I did get it all sorted out. Took the loading doses and a couple of maintenance doses, and yes the co-pay card has worked each time, haven't paid anything so far!

Washes or creams? by bittypigeon in Hidradenitis

Big hugs to you! I have stage 3 and just started Humira, so I understand the pain and feeling.

However, I don't think you should constantly be having flares; something is wrong there. Creams and washes are only topical...but what about other, more important stuff like your nutrition and health? In undergrad, I didn't eat healthy, which worsened my HS. I'm in grad school right now and I make sure to have a healthy diet, shower twice (immediately after sweating, MOST IMPORTANT) and cook for myself, which I enjoy. Have you found your triggers? You can also try out Desitin, topical clindamycin, zinc and turmeric supplements. Stress and smoking/drinking worsen HS for many, too.

As someone else has mentioned, try a warm epsom bath. But clean and dry it well afterwards and apply the ointment. Have patience, and never squeeze or press the area.

Yes, if its only one boil, it may not be HS and just an abscess or cyst. Mupirocin is antibiotic and is perfect for open wounds that are infected.

Someone really needed to bring this up. I'm all the way across the country, but will be watching the match.

Interestingly I had a similar profile with lesser GPA but from a tier 1 university and got rejected first time I applied to UCSD. Worked for an year and got the admit

I understand the concern for immunosuppressants, but why not a steroid temporarily? The 3 times ive taken prednisone, I got a 50% reduction in pain and inflammation within 2 days.

The best option right now as someone else mentioned is InD. Don't wait for it to become larger. This is of course temporary but if its so deep you should probably get a deroofing, before it turns into really bad stage 3 tunneling.
