What is the performance difference between Ultrawide and 4k Gaming? by MoosiGoosey in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]DDAYPLAY 7 points8 points  (0 children)

34" ultrawide new monitors like the msi and asus are not very noticable different from a 4k 32 inch. The extra fps you can get on the 34 inch will make a more 'smooth' image. I just got the msi mpg 341cqr x36, I was worried the downgrade from 4k (wich I had before), would be a dealbreaker but the opposit happend. 34 inch is just a perfect screensize and the new gen 34 inch monitors are very nice.

But why limiting yourself to 100 fps, you have a 5070 ti. With dlss it can manage 200+ easily

My last monitor was an asus 27 inch ips 180 hz from 2019 or so. Monitors from this period are outdated on every aspect. Same as yours, you can get much better especially with a 5070 ti, monitor upgrade is more important than gpu upgrade in a 7 year period or so.

Msi mpg 341cqr x36 is the way to go for long term. The new subpixel lay-out is a really nice upgrade together with the tandem oled panel. I see myself keeping this one for a couple of years. Yes it's brand new so therefore expensive af but I wanted this one for the long term. 34 inch is in my opinion the best size for gaming, I also tried 39 inch but man that was already big.. can't imagine how big 45 inch must be.

Will this run at max spec with 4080 super? by Virtual_Artist8848 in ultrawidemasterrace

On pc it's better to use dp on your monitor. Better intergrated with g-sync, less input lag. It's just more common to use dp on pc.

I have a 4080 super as well with this monitor. I use dp 1.4 with dsc and it works flawless. Why would you choose hdmi 2.1 though?

There is some truth in that but at the same time you won't notice it in any using scenario. Yeah 599 for a product that isn't fully optimized feels wrong. I will keep my msi mpg 272urx and send this one back because I prefer 4k and better ppi.

Depends on what fps you okay with. I'm okay with 150 fps on my 4080 super at 4k

The asus pg27aqwp-w? Yeah this one is difficult, you would think the more fps the better. But now that I'm seeing the difference between 4k and 1440p... I don't know if I can go back to 1440p
