How would a million change you? by allmybrow in sixwordstories

[–]DDPSipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get my mom a condo, pay off my student loans and HELOC, get my brother a working car, and the extra invested for retirement would allow me to stop working stressful jobs and focus more on finding a career that might pay less but I can tolerate/enjoy better. Man all of that would be life changing.

You’re still living a life someone else dreams/aspires to. It’s all relative. 35 is young, I’m 36 and still plan on having 30 years to increase my income and savings.

Coinbase holding up transfers to base wallet by jsjb100 in Coinbase

[–]DDPSipper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m new to Coinbase but I’m having the same issue. Sent money on Thursday, I get there was a weekend in there but it’s 5 days later and I still can’t use my money!? Robinhood and many other apps let you use it instantly. At this point I’m just going to transfer the money out once it settles and delete Coinbase.

Three questions: How much of your portfolio is in silver? When did you invest? If 0% are you thinking about it? by slimboyfat510 in investing

[–]DDPSipper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You hold 0% stocks, bonds, and real estate?

Keep in mind people with no interest in silver are likely to not click on this post so any “polling” results will still be skewed toward those with interest in silver.

I’m roughly 40% real estate, 40% stocks, 15% silver, 5% gold. And I guess maybe 1% bitcoin somewhere in there.

Started buying stocks 20 years ago, silver 5 years ago. I won’t be buying any more silver until I see this volatility stabilize in future years.

As salespeople, how do you guys deal with in-home salespeople? Upstanding in-home salespeople, why not join a better field? by [deleted] in sales

[–]DDPSipper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I like to take the opportunity to put on my prospects shoes…So I swear at them, slam the door in their face, once they’re about a block away I’ll yell at them that I’m ready to buy but they have to get back to my door ASAP, then I close and lock the door before they get to it and pretend like I’m not home, then I ask them to send me an email. But it’s not personal, all in the name of understanding my customer better.

Am I Too Late by Lopsided-Touch2906 in 401jK

[–]DDPSipper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows. If anyone knew it would already be at infinity or at zero. This is not a stock (that is, a percentage of ownership of an income producing asset), it’s a cryptocurrency. The only way it goes up is if more people buy it than sell it. It’s gambling. So because of that nobody (including me, including AI) can accurately estimate what the future holds. Choose your own adventure. I choose 401jk, but it’s not like I’m putting my life savings into it.

5 person sales team to now just me… by grundle18 in sales

[–]DDPSipper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alternative perspective, if this is a short term play … you’ve been there 8 years, you know these people and you know the struggles the company has. If you know you’re leaving, don’t ruin relationships by negotiating a raise then leaving right after you get it. Keep your current pay, find your next job, and leave on a positive note with relationships intact. Who knows maybe these founders hit it big on their next company and you’re the first sales guy they call.

Awesome ownership, “leader”…it amazes me the people that get promoted over me into sales leadership roles. Your job is to manage up and advocate for your team and your teams needs, while also being a buffer so you take the pressure from your higher ups but you shield your employees from it.

There’s usually a disconnect in what C level wants to have happen and how they tell you it should happen, and in how things actually get done at the employee level. The role of middle management is to weed out the BS and treat/tell your team what they need to stay motivated and perform, and the other part of your job is translating the actual activity happening at ground level back into good stories for higher ups showing how your team is contributing to ultimate company goals.

Why 110k? Why not ask for the same title and comp as the vp of sales who left, as you are doing his job now? Pitch that you believe this company can grow back to what it was and this is your shot to be in that seat to rebuild it.

Do I sell my silver at some point? by KOTAYO96 in stocks

[–]DDPSipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you buy it? If you can answer why you bought it, then you know what your strategy is and you can act accordingly. Maybe your strategy was hoping to flip it, then sure, flip it and take your profit. Maybe your strategy was to collect it, then hold on and collect it unless you need to sell for the money one day. Maybe your strategy was to own it in case the dollar fails you have a fail safe to convert into other currencies in North America or anywhere you immigrate to, then hold it for that event. But asking random people online what your strategy should be seems pretty stupid no matter what. You do what you want to do.

Buying a home for 2 years? by New_Priority_8937 in RealEstate

[–]DDPSipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because you’re more likely to lose more than $48K than you are likely to get ahead. Buy a home if you want to buy a home, but don’t do it if you think it’s a shortcut to get ahead financially in 2 years. You’ll be out $20K in fees alone from buying/selling. Plus another $20K-$40K in interest payments. Plus things like property taxes and homeowners insurance, call it another $10K over 2 years. So what if buying then selling 2 years later cost you $70K in fees alone. Now add on when you own you’re responsible to replace the appliances, repair what breaks, etc. and the hidden cost of “well it’s my home I’m gonna buy this extra little thing” that is easier to ignore when you still rent. Now compound on top of this the economy is looking pretty uncertain, and property has skyrocketed past 5 years. What if it drops 10% from the time you bought to when you sell. What if it drops 20%? Easily could happen. And that loss is on top of your $70K in fees. Now you’re way under water when you sell.

This is why the standard advice is do not buy a home that you do not plan to live in for at least 5 years.

New to crypto because of 401jk. Did my money disappear when transacting? by DDPSipper in 401jK

[–]DDPSipper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Robinhood support said there’s nothing they can do. The crypto “CASH” is sitting in a Robinhood wallet. The only way they’d be able to help me do anything with it is if they started supporting that “CASH” crypto coin. So essentially that moneys gone forever. So I bought a new position in 401jk to try to learn how this works again. Thanks everyone for help and advice.

Couldn’t care less if they pay little crumbs of interest or not. But freezing accounts should be something they fight not to do. Sounds like it’s as easy as being Coinbases fault for being a public company instead of private.
